This week on "America's Next Top Model," the models will go on go-sees and compete to book two runway shows. Two models who were confident that they would do well in the challenge are disappointed…big time. Someone has a crush on another model in the house. Who can it be? Plus, we'll see who comes back to the competition from the "Comeback Series" of eliminated models.
The models return home to see Jourdan's winning photo. This was her third time having best photo, and she's feeling super confident. We see her choose Renee to share the Tyra Suite and the Guess closet with her. She figures the old adage applies here -- "keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer."
That night, Renee confides in Jourdan that she has a crush on someone. Jourdan guesses that it's Marvin, and Renee admits it, and says she can't believe she is acting this way.
The next day, the models pile in the bus and go downtown where they meet Rob Evans, who introduces them to Alexis Borges, who is the Agency Director of Next Model Management. (Remember, this is the agency who will be signing the winner.) Rob says that he is also signed with Next Model Management.
Alexis says that he sees a lot of potential in the models in front of him, but what's even more important is that you can actually book a job. Style Fashion Week is coming up, and the models will have the opportunity to land a spot in their show, which will happen later that evening.
The challenge is as follows. The models will get to go on two castings. One will be with Paulie Gibson, and the second will be XCVI for the girls and Civil Society for the guys. They will be scored on who books the most castings and their runway walks. The person who wins this will win the challenge, and they'll get clothes from the designer.
Paulie loved Nina's personality. He didn't say much about Cory or Don. He liked Marvin, but thought he didn't showcase his personality enough. Paulie had Phil remove his beanie cap, and take off his shirt, then walk for him. He also commented on his portfolio, with which he was impressed. Paulie thought Jourdan had a great walk, almost "too" great. But, nothing wowed him about her. Paulie really loved Renee, whom he thought sold herself the whole time she was there. The models chosen to walk in Paulie's show are: Cory, Nina, Phil, Don, Renee and Chris. He tells Jourdan that she's a little flat, and Marvin that he needs to project his personality more.
The girls go to meet Daniela Zeltzer, who is the Owner/Creative Director of XCVI. After watching Nina walk, she said that Nina had a wobbly walk that wasn't confident. She liked Jourdan's walk, but loved Renee's fierce stomp and she chose her to walk in her runway show.
After the girls get their results, they all go sit down, and it's clear that Jourdan is not feeling well. Renee asks her how she's doing, and Jourdan admits she is having a panic attack. Shades of Cycle 16's Brittani Kline!
At the guy's casting, they are walking for Brad Schwartz, who is the Creative Director of Civil Society. He says he is looking for someone that shows his confidence. He says that Cory and Don have a similar look. He mentions that he likes Phil's wise guy attitude. The three guys he chooses are Don, Phil and Chris. Marvin is once again out, and has booked nothing. Cory is out as well, but he booked the first job, so he's not totally out.
Later, at the fashion show, Renee really killed it. Paulie was impressed with Don as well, but Chris held his chin too stiff. Alexis asked Phil to remove his jacket on the runway, which Phil did, but the way he did it was sloppy, crumbling up the jacket and dragging it on the floor on the way out. In the end, it was down to three models -- Renee, Phil and Don. And the winner was Renee.
We haven't seen one for a while, but it's time for a TyraMail!
"Fashion is a reflection of you."
That night, Renee decides to sneak into Marvin's room and cuddle with him. In the confessional, Marvin admits that every girl he likes goes home. He liked Hailey, and she went home. He liked Bianca, and she went home. He liked Chlea and she went home. He liked Jiana, and she went home. Now, he likes Renee, and he says, "Don't tell her. She might go home."
The next day, the bus comes and takes the models to Canyon Ranch, where they meet Johnny for their photo shoot. Johnny tells them that they'll be posing horizontally in the grass with the camera shooting from up above.
During the shoot, Nina looks beautiful in a long blue dress. Don has some problems posing. Cory looks whimsical. Phil is just laying there, and Renee has some beautiful moments, and Jourdan is gorgeous. Chris looks hot. Johnny tells Marvin that his legs look like Charlie Chaplin, and he's not listening to Johnny's directions.
At panel, the critiques went as follows.
First is Nina. Rob thinks she looks elegant and graceful. Kelly is blown away. Tyra thinks Nina looks like a top girl. BryanBoy says that Nina is the queen of social media this week, even over Jourdan.
Next is Don. Kelly thinks something is missing. Rob thinks he looks one-dimensional.
Renee is next. Rob thinks Renee has found her confidence. Kelly doesn't like it. Tyra thinks she looks fierce.
Next is Jourdan. Kelly loves the shot. Rob likes how long she looks. Tyra says it's her least favorite picture, and she looks like a mature woman. Her social media scores dropped.
Next is Cory. Rob likes how he's looking really manly. Kelly likes Cory's face, but thinks his legs look strange. Tyra likes the photo, but wishes Cory would show more neck.
Phil is next. Rob says Phil is turning into the ugliest woman. Tyra asks him what is happening, and Phil says he has no clue. Social media isn't liking him either.
Next is Chris. Rob thinks he looks like something out of "Twilight." He says it doesn't look like he's trying to be a model. It looks like he is a model. Tyra absolutely loves it. Social media loves it as well.
Marvin is next. Rob thinks Marvin looks like a baby. He compares him to a marionette. Kelly says his face looks like a face you put through a cut out at a carnival. She calls it "Howdy Doody." He's not doing too well with social media either.
The challenge scores, judges scores and social media scores are totaled, and the call-outs went as follows:
The bottom two are Marvin and Phil. Phil has been in the bottom two three weeks in a row. Will he make it out alive this week? Phil has great personality, but it's not coming out in his photos. Marvin is great in his photos, but he's like a little boy in person. Who will stay? Marvin makes it through.
Tyra reveals it's time for the comeback winner to be announced. Jiana, Chlea, Alex, Mike and Kanani enter the room, and then Phil goes back to stand with them. It's time to find out who will be coming back. The person with the highest social media score is: Alex
She will join the other models, who will be flying to Bali next week. But that's not all. Tyra announces that because the cycle is "Guys and Girls," and she announced the girl with the highest social media score (Alex), now she will announce the guy with the highest social media score. It's down to Mike, Jeremy and Phil. Who will it be?
Tyra lied. She's making us wait until next week to find out which guy will join the other models and fly to Bali. Tune in next Friday, Sept. 27, at 9:00 p.m. on The CW to find out.
