This week on America's Next Top Model All-Stars, we are down to our final three -- Lisa D'Amato, Angelea Preston and Allison Harvard.
The girls arrive back at the home after the previous week's judging, and Lisa reveals that she never thought she'd make it this far. She's been performing since she was a child, and she reveals that she had an abusive childhood, but she's overcome it, and now feels she is the best she ever was. Angelea reveals that winning for her will be about redemption, because back in the 716, things like this don't happen to girls like her. Allison reveals that she has to battle her shyness, and she talks about her dad dying of cancer the previous year. (This was mentioned back in the episode where she wrote her Pot Ledom song.)
Time for Tyra mail! Three words pop up on the big screen TV. They're in Greek. Hey, anyone here read Greek? Apparently Angelea does. She reveals it means "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful," and exclaims that they're going to be doing their CoverGirl commercials.
The following day, the girls meet with Mr. Jay and Paige Cali, who is the communication director for CoverGirl. He reveals that they will be filming their CoverGirl commercial and shooting for the print ad today as well. They'll be hocking CoverGirl's ShadowBlast eye shadow. It's time for hair and makeup. Their photographer for the print ad will once again be Nikos Papadopoulos. Oh yes, and he hands them their script, and tells them to memorize it.
Lisa is first to shoot, and Mr. Jay is happy with the way her eyes look in the ShadowBlast, but he thinks that Lisa is not being herself. Paige also reveals her pleasure, pointing out that Lisa gives lots of movement, and her photos are beautiful. Her commercial turns out well, but she has some problems with one part where she has to say "Oh, yeah." But in the end, things look good.
When it's time for Allison to do her shoot, she once again has problems keeping her eyes open for the closeups. Mr. Jay remedies this by deciding to shoot her with her eyes closed. During her commercial, she has some problems initially, but with the direction from Mr. Jay to be over-the-top, she ends up with a good result.
Angelea is the final girl to film, and she seems nervous, but Mr. Jay reveals that he thinks she is "knocking it out." During her commercial, she gives us her personality, and really is over-the-top, and Mr. Jay is loving it.
After the CoverGirl shoot and commercial filming is done, the girls head home to find another TyraMail, which directs them to prepare themselves for a day at the beach.
The following day, the girls head down to the beach, and it's time for the girls to film their Vogue spread and Beauty in Vogue shoot.
Each of the girls pose on the beach, and pretty much, all receive good reviews for their shoots.
Time to meet up with Mr. Jay again, who tells them it's time to prepare for their final runway challenge. They'll all be wearing their special dresses they helped design with Michael Cinco. The challenge will be very unique in that they will be swimming underwater, and flying through the air, as well as stomping it out on the runway to the music from the songs each of them wrote several episodes back.
Lisa is first, and she enters the water, where she has to swim across to a platform and exit the water, up some steps. She gets all confused in the water, however, and ends up at the side wall when she comes up for air, but she recovers and exits the water confidently. She also has a really strong walk, even with the super strong winds blowing her dress all over the place, and the crowd really seems to love her.
Angelea seems nervous, as she doesn't really know how to swim, but she makes it across the water, coming up for air once, and exits the pool strongly. Her runway walk is also strong, again, as she too has to fight the strong winds. The crowd is on its feet enjoying her performance.
Allison is the final girl to head out, and she has no problems with the swimming part. She actually is very smooth underwater, exiting at the opposite end, by the steps perfectly. When it comes time for her walk, the wind really does a number on the train of her dress, and her runway walk is not the strongest, but the crowd loves her as well.
After the runway show, things get a little weird. Usually, we see Tyra meeting with the girls and saying how she will meet them at judging, but this time, we cut straight to the judges -- Tyra, Nigel, Andre, and Mr. Jay at panel. They announce that the producers have learned something about Angelea that makes her ineligible, and that Lisa and Allison will be judged alone for the win. What? It's very mysterious, and even now, no one seems to know the real reason Angelea was disqualified. Rumors have said that she blogged about the finale on Facebook weeks ago, but no one has really confirmed if that was true or not.
Back to the judging. Allison and Lisa stand together at panel, and they first watch Allison's footage from the show. Nigel thinks she looks wonderful underwater, but comments on her walk, which is not strong. In viewing Lisa's footage, we see her getting lost underwater, but finishing strongly on the runway.
Now, to view the CoverGirl ads. Allison's commercial is good, but her eyes are closed so much of the time. Nigel feels that she is talking through her eyes, even though they are closed. Andre isn't buying it, though, saying he wanted more pop from her. Lisa's commercial is more dynamic, just like Lisa herself. Nigel thinks it's flirtatious, but Tyra isn't loving it.
On to the CoverGirl photos. In Allison's photo, Nigel comments that she looks a bit vacant. Tyra thinks she would have done better if she would have "smized." In Lisa's photo, her head is tipped down, with her bangs covering one eye, but even just that one eye is fantastic, and she gets great comments from all the judges.
Time for the judges to deliberate. Nigel pushes for Lisa because she is gutsy, and Mr. Jay comments that she definitely has the personality. They comment on Allison's huge fan base, and say that she inspires people. Lisa, on the other hand can make photographers want to shoot her with her energy on set. She's great on the Red Carpet, but Nigel points out sometimes she seems too cocky. Tyra brings up that Lisa has been through a lot, and she can be a good role model, to show people that you can succeed. The judges all really love Allison's look, though. Tyra probably deals the final blow, pointing out that her eyes are her money, but if she can't keep them open, that is definitely an issue. A decision is made.
The girls come back into judging, and Tyra announces the winner of America's Next Top Model All-Stars is..... Lisa!
So, there you have it. It was a crazy Cycle, but we have our winner. With Angelea's disqualification being so prominent in everyone's minds, however, I'm thinking that she probably got more press than if she actually would have won. However, in the end, it's Lisa that's taking home the title, the Vogue Italia shoot, the $100,000 CoverGirl contract, becoming the face of the new ANTM perfume, and the blog on Vogue.it.
Cycle 18 won't be starting until next Spring. Until then, we have our memories of Cycle 17 to think about, and wonder what craziness will abound when rumor has it, it will be American's vs. Brits in Cycle 18.
