America's Next Top Model - Cycle 17 - All-Stars - Episode 9 recap - National America's Next Top Model

This week on America's Next Top Model All-Stars, we are down to the final six. Instead of going straight home to the model home after the previous panel, the girls stop off at a restaurant for a meal. As they arrive home, they're greeted by Allison's winning video from the previous week's panel, and Lisa interviews that she believes that sure, Allison is unique, but that she is the whole package.

The girls receive a visitor, and when they open the door, they find out that it's Andre Leon Talley, who is there to give them some "all-star treatment," since the competition has been so hard so far.

In walk two waiters with trays in hand, and they sort of dance around as they enter, and one bumps into the other, making him drop his dishes. He gets mad and blames him for knocking into him, which causes the other to slam his dishes down on the ground, and they chase each other out of the room. The girls are shocked, and Andre apologizes, but then says that there is a country in the world where that is a tradition. That country is Greece, which is where they are all headed. He invites them to toss down some dishes, and then they get their real food, and head off to pack for their trip to Greece.

The girls head off to the airport, and fly to Greece, where they meet Miss J and Vicky Kaya, who is the host of Greek's Top Model. Miss J tells them that there will be a press conference with them at their final destination, which is the Island of Crete. They'll be given packets which will help them write their 1 minute speech. They'll be able to read it on their short flight to Crete. They must tell something about themselves, wow the crowd, and throw in some words in Greek. The winner will receive a lovely piece of jewelry from a popular Greek designer.

The girls exit the plane and have to talk to the media, where it is extremely windy. Lisa does pretty well, incorporating Greek words into her introduction, but then ruins all the positives by ending with "let's rock 'n roll!" Allison did a really good job, incorporating many Greek words and phrases into her introduction. Shannon introduces herself, but doesn't really use any Greek words, other than the word for goodbye. Dominique uses Greek words in her introduction, and admits to loving to eat. When asked if she had a favorite Greek dish, and she says she'd be happy with some tanini sauce. Laura had a hard time with her speech, which, if you watched her Cycle, you'd expect, since she's dyslexic. She talks about being a small town country girl, and that this is her first trip out of the country. She tries for a Greek phrase, but no one can understand what it is that she said. Then, when she is asked if she could be a Greek goddess, who would she be. Poor Laura gets confused and says she'd be Venus, who is actually a Roman goddess. She really should have said Aphrodite. Angelea gives her introduction, incorporating some Greek words into what she is saying. She is asked what is the first thing she wants to see, and she replies that she wants to see Mt. Olympus. Then, she ruins it all by asking for the bano, because she has to go..

When everyone is done, Miss J says he'll meet them later to tell them who the winner was, and the girls board the bus to their hotel in Crete, which is the Blue Palace Resort & Spa. After checking out their rooms, they go to the lower level, where they meet Miss J. He critiques them, saying Dominique was a bit nervous, Shannon talked too much about herself, he loved Allison, thought Laura was so happy, thought Lisa was inappropriately dressed for meeting dignitaries, and thought Angelea was great until she made her fatal mistake asking about the bathroom. The winner is Allison. Lina Fanouraki is then introduced as a designer and co-owner of Fanouraki jeweler. She gives Allison a beautiful bracelet.

The next morning, the girls are chowing down on some Greek breakfast, when they're greeted with a knock on their door, and Mr. Jay comes in. He tells the girls that it's getting ever closer to the finale, and that this Cycle, the girls will have a hand in designing their runway dress. The designer is Michael Cinco, who was in Cycle 16, where the girls were dressed in recycled gowns that he designed, and they modeled them in the landfill. The theme is immortal goddess.

So? What kinds of ideas did the girls have for Michael? Angelea wants to do a blend between Grace Jones and Greek culture. Laura wants to do a mix of the birth of calves and wheat. Huh? Allison wants romantic with a lot of flowers. Lisa suggest using a string of lights, like Christmas lights in the dress. Michael tells her that he doesn't think that is a good idea, because it will look tacky. Dominique wants something metally and sparkley dangling in the crotch area. Huh? Shannon wants sexy but conservative.

The next day, Laura is feeling sick, and they have to do a photo shoot. They stroll down the hill to the shore where Mr. Jay is standing with a large dish-like object. He tells them that Greece is known for Greek salads. They'll be posing in a salad, modeling underwear. All eyes are on Shannon, who specifically has said she does not model lingere. Nikos Papadopoulis is the photographer.

The girls go to hair and makeup, and Shannon is still insisting she will not model underwear. Mr. Jay tells her that is up to her, and to just relax and enjoy the shoot.

Dominique looks great in the salad, and Mr. Jay is really impressed. Angelea has some problems during her shoot. When she sits up, Mr. Jay can tell that she doesn't have good core strength, so he tells her that she should lay down in her photo. Allison has a problem with the bright sun, saying that she has "vampire vision," and when she looks up in the sunlight, tears roll down her face, so many of her photos end up being with her eyes closed. Lisa lays in the bowl and pours the oil on herself. Laura is still sick during her shoot, but she's trying. She keeps pouring the oil down the side of her face, and Mr. Jay thinks she looked like a sexy little girl, and not a model. Oh oh, that's not good.

Time for the elimination Tyra mail.

"Tomorrow you will meet with the judges. Only 5 will continue on in the hope of becoming America's Next Top Model All Star."

It's time for panel. Tyra introduces the judges - Nigel Barker, Andre Leon Talley and guest judge Nikos Papadopoulos, who was the photographer. She tells them about the prizes, then gets on with the judging.

First to be critiqued is: Allison. Nigel comments that even though her eyes are closed, it still looks really beautiful. Nikos said he tried to capture the beauty of Allison's eyes, but he couldn't do it, but he was still impressed with the job she did.

Next is Angelea. Nigel thinks she looks gorgeous. Andre loves it too, and questions if it's a bikini or underwear. Tyra tells him that it's underwear. (cut to Shannon who is smiling.) Nikos says that he felt awkward during the shoot with Angelea.

Lisa is next. Nigel thinks it's interesting. Nikos says that Lisa looked beautiful, but it was like she wasn't present.

Next is Shannon. Tyra asks her about her experience on the photo shoot. Shannon explains that several years prior she decided that she wasn't going to do lingere photo shoots, so she didn't participate. Nigel spoke up, saying that he was confused by what Shannon felt was wrong with it. Nikos said that he wouldn't book a girl that had so many limitations.

Dominique is next. Nigel loves the shot, and thinks Dominique looks strong in the pic. Andre loves the hand in her hair. Tyra thinks it's lovely.

Laura is next. Nigel thinks it's interesting, but not glamorous. Andre says it's not his favorite.

Time for the judges to deliberate. They bring the girls back and the call-outs go as follows:

Lisa

The bottom two are Laura and Shannon. The judges think that Laura's photos aren't loveable. They're too sexy. They think that Shannon is pure to her brand, but the judges are confused by her stance on modeling underwear. Who will stay? Laura will stay, and Shannon will be packing her bags.

Next week, it looks like the girls have to give opinions on each other's strengths and weaknesses. It seems like everyone is choosing Angelea as the weakest, and she has a bit of a meltdown that everyone is picking on her.
