'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 16 - Episode 8 - Time for Go-sees

Last week on America's Next Top Model, the models had a photo shoot for Ford's Warriors in Pink campaign. Nigel Barker was the photographer, and also decided the winner, who was Alexandria. Alexandria's challenge win allowed her to shoot a PSA for Warriors in Pink which would be viewed on the Ford website. She also won a 2012 Ford Focus. This decision really got to Brittani, who thought that Alexandria was not a good role model, and shouldn't have won the challenge. She voiced her opinion on set to the other models, and had words with Alexandria, all the while, with Nigel Barker watching.

Later, the girls headed off to Universal Studios for a shoot outside the Psycho set, where they had to portray women who were crazy for various types of fashion. At panel, Jaclyn ended up with first call-out, while Brittani and Mikaela ended up in the bottom two. Mikaela ended up going home. Who will go home this week? Read on.

This week, after panel, the bus didn't take the models home, but instead to an art galley, where the girls met with Tyra. Tyra had a display of framed pictures that contained each of the girls' portfolios. Tyra explained the importance of how to set up a portfolio, with a large beauty shot at the beginning, and a picture that wows the potential client at the end. She went over the various girls' portfolios, explaining that it doesn't matter how many photos you have. They just have to be amazing. She also held up a mysterious letter "C," saying it was part of the name of the international destination that the girls would be going. The rest of the letters are in the girl's individual portfolios. They put all the letters together to find out they'd be going to Morocco. Unfortunately, Tyra tells them that only 5 of the girls will be going to Morocco. Tomorrow, they will be going on go-sees, and the results of the go-sees will weigh heavily on who goes to Morocco, and who goes home.

The next day, as the girls were getting ready to go on their go-sees, Kyle Hagler from IMG models shows up at the door. He explains that they will have 4 hours to see 4 potential clients. Each client will represent a different archetype -- bombshell, girl-next-door, couture, and athletic. They will need to pack bags for each type of casting. Cars are ready for them downstairs, with a driver, but the girls will have to use maps to get around L.A.. They can't ask the driver or anyone else for directions. They will need to be at Lana Marks store by 3:00 pm, where the top 3 girls will participate in a final, very important go-see with Lana Marks.

Alexandria has an advantage, being that she is from Los Angeles, and she knows her way around really well. Molly, on the other hand, is having a problem finding the addresses. Jaclyn also has problems, as she's really bad with maps. The closest location, Frankie B. jeans (bombshell archetype) seems to be the location everyone seems to choose as their first stop. Molly arrives last, and decides she doesn't want to wait, so she takes back off and goes to another House Casting (girl-next-door archetype), where she has to memorize a commercial.

Back at Frankie B. jeans, Alexandria, Hannah, Kasia and Jaclyn all seem to impress the designer. At the House Casting, Molly has her first go-see, where she fails to impress the casting agent, who thinks she could be more friendly. Alexandria shows up just after Molly, and nails the go-see with House Casting.

The couture go-see is with Oday Shakar, where Kasia arrives and impresses the designer, who thinks that she would impress his clients. Brittani also makes it to the couture go-see, and she also impresses the designer with her look and her walk.

Jaclyn finally makes her second go-see, which is the girl-next-door archetype at House Casting. Hannah reads there as well, and the client comments on Jaclyn's accent, saying it might be a problem with certain jobs. No comment is given about Hannah's reading.

Molly hits her second casting, which is at the Smashbox Studios, with photographer Jerry Avenaim. This is the sports archetype. Unfortunately, Molly forgot to pack athletic gear, and she makes it work, rolling up her tank top, and wears her booty shorts. The photographer is super impressed, and would only be happier, if Molly had come prepared in the proper gear.Alexandria also makes it to the atheletic archetype casting, and she has remembered to bring a swimsuit, so she is prepared. She runs out to the car, and changes into her suit, leaving on her shorts, and then runs back in. As with her other go-sees, the photographer thought she was great, and would book her.

Both Brittani and Jaclyn decide after only making it to 2 go-sees, that they will head to Lana Marks, so they are certain to be on time. Both girls had time navigating L.A., and didn't want to take the chance they'd get lost. Soon, Hannah and Kasia also arrive at Lana Marks, and with 9 minutes remaining, in strolls Molly. Still no Alexandria. As the clock ticks down, with only 30 seconds to spare, in walks Alexandria.

Kyle Hagler from IMG addresses the girls to tell them how they did. The three girls that did the best, were Molly, Alexandria and Kasia. Of the girls that weren't in the top 3, Kyle tells Hannah that her runway walk needed a lot of work, and Brittani and Jaclyn only made it to 2 go-sees, which doesn't cut it. They are asked to leave, and Lana Marks enters to talk with the top 3 girls. She tells them the one that impresses her most will be in her next campaign, which will be seen in over 100 countries. The winner will also receive a gift bag of goodies from all the participating designers from the go-sees, and she'll get a replica of the Cleopatra clutch worn by Angelina Jolie to the 2010 Oscars, which is valued at $2,000.

Each of the girls has to pose for Lana, and she asks them each what it would mean to them to be part of the campaign. After all is said and done, Lana picks Alexandria as the winner.

Later at the model home, the girls receive a Tyra mail!

"A modeling career is a terrible thing to waste. Love, Tyra"

The next day, the girls are driven to the "Olinda Alpha Landfill," where they meet Mr. Jay and Nigel Barker. They tell the girls that they'll be shooting at the landfill, wearing eco-friendly clothing that was made especially for each of them by Michael Cinco.

During the shoot, Nigel comments that Kasia was having problems with her facial expressions. Nigel thinks Jaclyn has great control of her body, but she too needs to work on her face. Mr. Jay thinks that Hannah needs to stop second guessing herself, as it leads to inconsistent photos. Mr. Jay loves Alexandria at her photo shoot. She is giving him a broken down feel that goes well with the shot. Nigel notices Molly complaining about the location and the birds, and thinks she does well when she is being shot, but when she's off, she is very unprofessional. Brittani does really well, even offering to get down on the ground, which really impresses Mr. Jay.

Back at the model home, after the shoot, the girls receive the elimination Tyra mail!

"Tomorrow you will meet with the judges. Only 5 will continue on in the hope of becoming America's Next Top Model."

At panel, Tyra introduces the judges, which includes guest judge, Lana Marks, tells them about the prizes, and then gets on with the judging.

First to be critiqued is Alexandria. She booked 4 of 4 of her go-sees. The designers thought that she was prepared and friendly, and Tyra points out that this is exactly what you should do on a go-see. When the judges look at Alexandria's photo, Tyra calls it true high fashion. Lana says that her face and expression says it all. ALT calls her the star of the picture.

Next is Jaclyn. Tyra asks her how many go-sees she went to. Jaclyn says that she only made it to 2, due to having difficulty getting around. Lana Marks chastises her, saying that this is a chance of a lifetime, and it's totally unacceptable. Tyra gives Jaclyn the good news that she did book both of her go-sees, so that is a positive thing. They look at her photo, and Nigel comments that she needs to relax her jaw. She does well with posing her body, but her facial expressions need work. ALT thinks her left hand looks gauche.

Next is Molly. She went to 4 of the 5 go-sees, and booked 2 of them. The feedback from the designers was that they loved her look and her portfolio, but thought she came across cold and not present when she thought she was not being judged. Nigel agreed that during the photo shoot, she was great when she was being shot, but in between she would have off moments. Tyra tells Molly that if she had had a more consistent positive attitude, she would have been the winner of the Lana Marks challenge. Nigel thinks Molly's photo is gorgeous, and ALT thinks it's very editorial and dramatic.

Kasiais next. She went to 4 of the 5 go-sees, and she booked 2 of them. Tyra said the feedback said that she engaged the people to be sure they remembered her, but she came off rather rehearsed. When looking at Kasia's shot, Lana remarks that she thought she looked amazing. She loved the mystical look on her face. Tyra commented that while the shot is lovely, on a whole it seemed that she didn't seem to be moving in her shots. She also thinks that Kasia needs to learn what poses are best for her body.

Hannah is next. She went to 3 of the 5 go-sees. The feedback was that she came off young, fresh and glowing. But, she also came off green and inexperienced, and struggled with her runway walk. In looking at her picture, Lana loves her posture. Nigel tells her that she is wearing the dress. The dress is not wearing her. Tyra says that Hannah did really well, but she has a problem with doubting herself. She needs to catch up with what her abilities are.

Brittani is next, and Tyra asks her how she's feeling since last week. Brittani apologized for her behavior and told Tyra that she also apologized to Alexandria, and everything is all cool with them all. She went to only 2 go-sees, and she told Tyra that she takes the blame for that, and thinks her biggest problem was going on the freeway. Tyra tells her that she booked both jobs. When looking at her shot, ALT calls the shot so high fashion and so editorial. Tyra comments that she really worked it, but she needs to watch it so that her neck muscles don't get really stiff.

The judges deliberate, and the call-outs are as follows:

1.      Alexandria

2.      Hannah

3.      Kasia

4.      Brittani

Molly and Jaclyn are in the bottom two. The judges are worried that Jaclyn only made it to 2 go-sees. The good thing is that she booked both of them. But again, it was only 2. Molly made it to 4 out of 5, but only booked 2, due to her personality. Who stays? Molly will stay, and Jaclyn will be heading back to Texas.

Next week, we will have a behind-the-scenes look at the cycle so far. This will be the first week at the new time of 9:00 pm.
