Last week on America's Next Top Model, the girls had to walk a fiery runway, with their hands literally on fire. Dalya won the runway challenge, and got 2 outfits from the Geoffrey Mac collection as her prize.
Later on, the girls were in teams of two, to film a faux coffee commercial for Fierce Roastcoffee. They were styled in a retro look, and had to act sexy. Kasia came out on top with her just right balance of sexy and coy. In the end, Kasia got top photo, and Alexandria and Sara were in the bottom two, with Sara going home.
Who will go home this week? Read on to find out.
The girls made their way back to the model home, where Kasia saw her winning photo from the previous week's commercial challenge. Dalya congratulated her on her photo, and then interviewed that she felt she was one of the strongest competitors there. She said that she has been modeling since she was 16, and has already walked in L.A. Fashion week, but she really thought it was an amazing opportunity to be competing for the title of America's Next Top Model, and winning the CoverGirl contract.
Alexandria interviews that she was really upset to be in the bottom two because Mr. Jay said she was trying to direct at the commercial shoot (which she was!), and it is horrible when people just don't get her, because she's not like that.
Time for Tyra Mail!
"Every good lesson starts with a good foundation. Love, Tyra"
As the day is winding down, we see the girls' start to get ready for bed, and Molly interviews that the original weave she was given during makeover week was taken off her head, and they gave her a few days to heal, and then they put it back on. Why, I have no clue. It still looks awful! Molly says that her head has a rash all over it, and it's constantly itching.
In the bathroom, Alexandria is freaking out that someone took her towel. Molly tells her to chill out, and this leads into several of the girls taking this time to complain about her in their confessionals. Brittani says that she's obnoxious and controlling, while Hannah thinks maybe she is bi-polar, and Mikaela says she can't believe that Alexandria was just yelled at for her diva attitude, and she comes home and starts fighting with everyone.
The next day, the girls hop on the bus, and arrive at a studio where they meet Mr. Jay and Vincent Oquendo, who is a celebrity makeup artist who they have been working with in previous shoots. He and Mr. Jay explain that the challenge today will have the girls working in teams of three to shoot a webisode which will be displayed on the CoverGirl's website. The teams will each have one girl who will be the director, one the writer, and the last will be the talent, who will be doing the acting. They'll draw assignments from a bowl of folded papers.
The teams are:
Monique, Molly and Alexandria. The director is Monique. Molly is the director, and Alexandria is the talent. Their look is day-casual. Molly starts to come up with the concept, and tells Alexandria some of the script she's thinking of using. Alexandria totally gets bossy again and starts saying, no… why don't we say blah blah blah, and she goes on about what SHE wants to say. Molly tells her, "fine, if you want to say that, then just go ahead and write it." But, Alexandria then backpedals and says, "No, I'm not the writer." We then see Molly interviewing as she pantomimes shooting herself in the head.
The next team is Kasia, who is the writer, with Brittani as the director, and Mikaela as the talent. Their look is the Red Carpet-evening look. They seem to be working well together, going over some points they want to make and the products they will be spotlighting.
The final team is Jaclyn as the writer, Hannah as the director, and Dalya as the talent. Their look is Bold/Colorful look. Dalya explains that they're going to be using a conversational style, and she'll be talking about a specific guy that she's looking to impress, and she has to impress him with her eyes.
Alexandria, Molly and Monique are practicing before going to tape, there seems to be a lack of communication, with Monique trying to tell Alexandria things to say, and Alexandria saying to leave her alone and let her learn her lines. It's a train wreck waiting to happen.
The first team to actually tape is Team 1, the Red Carpet-evening look team of Kasia, Brittani and Mikaela. They run through the script the first time, and Mikaela flubs her lines, and swears, and has to start over. Mr. Jay is watching, and he comments to camera that he thinks Mikaela looks beautiful, and all, but she's using the F-word a little big too much for his liking. Oh oh.
Team 2 is Dalya, Hannah, and Jaclyn. They don't have a script, but use a conversational idea to get the information across about the Bold/Colorful eye look. Dalya didn't do well last week in emoting, and this week, she's still rather flat, and really bad at improvising. As Mr. Jay watches, he notes thatDalya looks really uncomfortable, and there's nothing about her performance that is interesting.
The final team is Alexandria, Molly and Monique. Their look is the Casual-Day look, and right away, Alexandria has problems with the lines, and Monique does a good job at trying to keep Alexandria on track, and tries to give her confidence that she can do it. Mr. Jay notices this, and gives Monique props for her calm attitude at dealing with a difficult person.
After the filming is done, Mr. Jay pulls everyone aside and critiques the teams.
Team 1 - Kasia, Brittani and Mikaela are praised for their relatability with the audience, but he does comment that he wasn't too pleased with all the swearing from Mikaela.
Team 2 - Dalya, Hannah, and Jaclyn are praised for using the conversational technique, but also criticized for not being super informative.
Team 3 of Alexandria, Molly and Monique was the final team to be critiqued, and Mr. Jay made a point of calling Alexandria out for trying to take on the director position, as she would call out "action" like she was in charge. Alexandria tried to get out of the critique, by saying she was saying it to herself. Mr. Jay didn't look like he believed her. He then complimented Monique's directorial technique of keeping Alexandria going, and getting the take completed.
In the end, Mr. Jay chose Team 1, of Kasia, Brittani and Mikaela. Their webisode will air on CoverGirl.com, which is huge exposure.
Back in the house it's time for Tyra Mail!
"Tomorrow get ready to take a walk on the wild side. Love, Tyra"
Alexandria decides that it's time to make a phone call, and she goes into the private phone room, which is the size of a closet with a windowed door, where you can see the person using the phone.
Alexandria calls her boyfriend, and tells him that the other girls don't like her. He tells her that he's behind her no matter what happens. Next, we learn that Alexandria grew up in a house where there was abuse, and that is why her parents split up. She says that she had to grow up fast, and she wish that the girls knew about this, cause maybe then, they would understand why she is the way she is.
In the living area, the girls are all hanging out, and badmouthing Alexandria, and Monique makes the suggestion that they should go read her diary. Someone tells her that isn't a good idea, but Brittani tells her that if she's going to do it, she better get moving. Monique jumps up and runs for the bedroom. She doesn't find anything about how Alexandria feels about the other girls, and she feels a little bad that she read her diary. (I must interject that I feel this behavior is really wrong. No matter how anyone feels about Alexandria, and I'm not a fan of her myself, she deserves her privacy.)
The next day, the girls pile into the bus, and head out to the old Los Angeles Zoo. Mr. Jay is there, and he tells them they will be showing their wild side, and they'll be shot by Baldomero Fernandez. They'll be posing with a baby jaguar named Murato, and they will be wearing clothing from Rachel Zoe's faux fur collection. He also tells them that Rachel will be the guest judge this week.
The girls meet Murato, and Alexandria is psyched about posing with him, while on the other hand, Monique is upset, because she hates cats.
During the shoot, Hannah and Brittani have really good shoots, receiving really good comments from Mr. Jay. Mikaela has some problems, as she just sits on the rock looking pretty, stroking Murato. Kasia also has problems, and the jaguar struggles to get out of her arms and she really is uncomfortable with him. Mr. Jay asks her if she ever had any animals, and she tells him she hasn't because she's allergic. Jaclyn is praised by Mr. Jay for taking on a feline quality in her shots, while he felt that everything that Dalya did was Modeling 101. He was really disappointed in her. Monique did a really good job, despite not liking cats. Molly had a problem during her shoot, as the jaguar was getting cranky by then. Alexandria was the final one to shoot, and she started barking at Murato. Huh? No one could understand that. At the end, she decided to snarl at him, and he hissed back at her.
There's no elimination Tyra Mail this week, and the girls head to panel, where Tyra introduces the judges, including guest judge Rachel Zoe. She tells the girls about the prizes, and then goes behind the judging table, and the critiques begin.
First up is Jaclyn. Nigel thinks the photo is stunning. ALT likes the 80s vibe, with the big hair. Tyra points out the odd positioning of Jaclyn's hand underneath the fur, and the ecstatic look on her face. She thinks it looks a little freaky-deeky. I didn't even notice it until she pointed it out.
Next is Mikaela. ALT thinks it's weak, and he thinks her hand looks odd. Nigel likes the photo, saying that his eyes go straight to her. Tyra thinks that Mikaela needs to put tension in her body.
Molly and her horrible weave are next. Tyra comments that if she makes it through to the next week, they will yank that weave out. After seeing the photo, Nigel comments that Molly's face is interesting, but the photo isn't about fashion. Rachel comments that Molly's hand looks bigger than her face in the photo, and that's not a good thing. Tyra comments one last time that in looking at Molly's film, it looked like she wasn't present in her photos.
Next is Monique. ALT comments that it's interesting, but he thinks she lucked out with the cat yawning widely in the shot. Tyra thinks that Monique looks stunning, and she's not being outstaged by the jaguar.
Kasia is next. ALT points out the 80s look, with the big hair again. Rachel comments that with faux fur, you think about the 80s with big hair. She thinks it worked. Tyra was happy with the photo, but said Mr. Jay said that Kasia seemed like a fish out of water, and that she just lucked into the photo. She asked Kasia what happened, and Kasia explained about being allergic to everything, and not having pets.
Next up is Dalya. Nigel thinks it looks like there are tears in her eyes. ALT thought that Dalya would be the one model who would just flat out roar at the jaguar. Dalya commented that she didn't know what to do with Murato.
Brittani is next. Rachel comments, "Who is this woman standing in front of me." ALT answers, "She is a fabulous, fabulous woman who is in control of her destiny with her pet jaguar." Tyra says that she wants that coat. Nigel says that a model is supposed to sell something, and right now, all of the judges want that coat, including him.
Alexandria is next. Nigel thinks that if you took the animal out of the shot, she would not look good. He thinks the animal has so much character that he's overpowering her. Tyra thinks the photo is fun, but not very modelesque.
Last is Hannah. ALT thinks the photo looks so lush. Rachel can only say "Wow!" Tyra likes that Hannah can do a soft commercial, and then turn around and do a high fashion editorial.
The judges deliberate, and then call the models back and announce who will go home.
The callouts went as follows:
1. Hannah
2. Brittani
3. Jaclyn
4. Monique
5. Alexandria
6. Kasia
7. Mikaela
The bottom two are Molly and Dalya. The judges think even though Molly had hair trouble this week, she also had a bad weave two weeks ago, and she had one of the best pictures in the bunch. Dalya has great bone structure and has previous experience, but she seems to be standing in her own way. Who will stay? Molly is staying. Dalya will be packing her bags.
Next week, Tyra gives the girls some tips on dealing with fame, and Alexandria, who seems to have control issues may have gone too far as she tells Mr. Jay what to do.
