'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 16 - Episode 4 - Coffee Anyone?

Last week on America's Next Top Model the girls got their makeovers, which included one heck of a bad weave for poor Molly. The photo shoot involved posing in pairs, and in one case, a trio, while trying to stand out the most. Alexandria got the first callout in panel, but also a dressing down for her diva attitude, while Dominique and Sara ended up in the bottom two, with Dominique packing her bags and going back home. Who will be the next to leave? Read on.

The girls return to the model home after panel from the previous week, and Alexandria admires her photo, which is displayed as digital art on the flat screen TV. As Alexandria interviews about how amazing it was to have top photo, the other girls are all commiserating that she is still around. In one of the bedrooms, some of the girls hang out, and Monique asks Sara if her preference is college or modeling. Sara replies that she needs to go to school. Alexandria replies that she will be moving to New York, and she'll be modeling for IMG. She says she'll do that even if she doesn't win.

Tyra Mail!

"If you don't watch your step, your career will go up in flames. Love, Tyra"

The girls ponder the mail, and Jaclyn thinks it means they'll be going to the fire station, and have to carry the hoses. Hmmm… somehow I don't think so.

The next day, the model bus drops them off at a warehouse, where Miss J is waiting with a runway behind him. He tells them that tonight's runway challenge will have them modeling the latest collection from Geoffrey Mac, who designs for Lady Gaga.

As Miss J speaks, the runway lights on fire. He tells them that they will actually be on fire as they walk down the runway. They'll have on special fireproof gloves, which will be ignited, making for an exciting runway show. Miss J tells the girls that the winner of the challenge will win 2 dresses from the new Geoffrey Mac collection.

Off to hair and makeup. First, we see the stylist cut the horrible weave off of Molly's head. What a relief.

First out on the runway is Alexandria. She walks out, and is cool as a cucumber with her fierce walk. Brittani follows, and she really rocks it as well. All the girls do a fairly good job. Sara, however had a hard time getting the fire to light on her hands.

In the end, Miss J had praise for most of the girls, but especially for Dalya, Brittani and Alexandria. Miss J chooses Dalya as the winner of the challenge, and the winner of the 2 dresses by Geoffrey Mac. On the other end of the spectrum, the bottom three were Sara, Kasia and Hannah, and Miss J tells them that they will get to practice their walk by walking home. Yes, I'm not kidding. They made them walk back to the model home. Wow. On their way home, Kasia decides they should put on their heels and really practice walking. So they did.

As the three girls walk into the model home, they're just in time for another Tyra Mail!

"Tomorrow it's ok for you to cause a scene. Love, Tyra"

Brittani is the one to read the Tyra Mail, and she's thinking it must have something to do with acting, which she isn't too keen about. And, just after that, the doorbell rings, and Sara answers it to find a large envelope that says "Tyra Mail" on it. She picks it up and brings it inside to share with the others. When they open up the envelope, there is a message, and nine copies of scripts. The message says, "Make sure you know all these lines by tomorrow!"

As the girls check out the scripts, they find out that the scene is a commercial for Fierce Roast Coffee, and two secretaries have to convince their boss that coffee can be sexy. The secretaries have to act sexy while delivering their lines, and Sara is having a problem trying to be sexy. She worries that she won't do well with the challenge.

The next day, the bus drops the girls off at the Smashbox Studios, where they meet Mr.Jay. He tells them they'll be doing a commercial for Fierce Roast Coffee, and he nees them to be flirty, fun and sexy. The scene will be very retro, and their whole look will be one of a woman from the 1950s. The photographer/director for the shoot is Francesco Carrozzini, which if you saw Cycle 15, when the girls were in Italy, he was the photographer that shot their Vogue Italia shoot. Very hot looking guy!

While the girls get outfitted in their 1950s styled clothing, they are also padded, so they look more curvy. Jaclyn is thrilled to get a fake booty, and she wiggles around, testing out the new look. Too cute. Sara isn't happy with her padded bra, and Kasia, being the only plus-sized model, didn't need any padding to look curvy.

The first girls to shoot are Alexandria and Brittani, who is none too happy to be paired with Alexandria, the diva again. Brittani also has trouble with the acting, but Alexandria has no problems trying to do everyone's job for them. She tells the lighting guys how to light the set, tells Brittani where she should be looking, and even Mr. Jay realizes that she's trying to take on everyone's job. Francesco isn't to happy about it, either.

Kasia and Jaclyn did great, putting on a lot of sex appeal, but not too over the top, and Francesco is happy with them, especially Kasia.

Molly and Dalya are a team, and we see their shoot, which Francesco praises, happy that they took directions really well.

Next up is Monique and Hannah. And in their shoot, we see Monique get the name of the product wrong.

The last team to shoot is Mikaela and Sara. From the very start, you can see this team is going to really have a problem. Sara starts out saying her lines to Mikaela rather than the male actor, and Francesco reminds her that she's supposed to be seducing him not Mikaela. Mr. Jay says they are about as sexy as watching paint dry.

Back in the model home, the girls come in to find the elimination Tyra Mail.

"Tomorrow you will meet with the judges. Only 9 will continue on in the hope of becoming America's Next Top Model."

Time for panel. Tyra introduces the judges -- Nigel Barker, Andre Leon Talley, and guest judge Francesco Carrozzini. She talks about the prizes the winner will get. A contract with IMG Models, a spread in Italian Vogue, a cover and a spread in Beauty in Vogue, and a spotlight on the Italian Vogue website -- http://vogue.it and lastly, a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl.

The girls will be judges based on their Fierce Roast Coffee commercial, which was directed by Francesco Carrozzini. They were called up in pairs, based on who they worked with in the commercial.

First up is: Monique and Hannah. Nigel thinks both girls did a very good job. He loved Hannah's body language, but thinks Hannah was a bit reserved. Tyra wanted to see them push it a little more. Francesco was happy with their performance.

Next is: Jaclyn and Kasia. Tyra was ecstatic at their performance, saying that they knocked it out of the park. She says that it's one of her favorite Top Model moments. ALT thought they were really superb. Nigel says he was totally taken in by Kasia. Jaclyn tells about shaking her fake beauty, and Tyra has her demonstrate, which she does wonderfully.

Next duo is Alexandria and Brittani. Nigel thinks that the girls didn't work together in the shoot. He tells Brittani that her facial expressions were brilliant, but she needed to work her body more. ALT thinks Alexandria held it together, but Brittani didn't support her. Francesco mentions that Alexandria was trying to direct the shoot, which Alexandria denies.

Saraand Mikaela are next. ALT thinks that Sara lost the plot, and he didn't feel anything from her performance. Nigel thinks that Mikaela looked gorgeous, and if it was a photo shoot, she'd have it down, but it was a commercial, and she fell short. Francesco tells Sara that he feels she wasn't really there, and it was hard to direct her.

Last duo is: Dalya and Molly. Tyra feels that they didn't take their moments and shined. ALT thinks that it didn't work when Dalya moved from the chairs to the coffee cups.

The call-outs went as follows:

  1. Kasia
  2. Hannah
  3. Jaclyn
  4. Dalya
  5. Monique
  6. Molly
  7. Mikaela
  8. Brittani

The bottom two are Alexandria and Sara. The judges think she has a lovely, interesting face, but her performance had a lack of commitment. Alexandria was too sexy in her commercial, but she's developing a pattern of bad behavior on set. Who will go? We say goodbye to Sara.

Next week on America's Next Top Model, the girls will be shooting a CoverGirl commercial. Should be interesting. Tune in next Wednesday on The CW at 8:00 pm.
