'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 16 - Episode 2 - Bee-youtiful - National America's Next Top Model

Last week on America's Next Top Model, we met the 14 girls who would make it to the house this Cycle. The girls walked in their first runway, which was only 12" wide, and over water. Oh, and they had to walk in a giant bubble. Britanni came out on top in the challenge with a fierce walk. Prior to the runway challenge, they would be shot backstage in posed and unposed photos, and one girl would go home.

At panel, Molly had the best photo, and Dominique and Angelia were in the bottom two, with Angelia going home. Who will go home this week? Read on.

The girls arrive home after the first panel, and Molly sees her photo displayed as digital art on the large flat screen TV. The text written on the photo said, "Sexsational" "Evokes Glamour" "Elusive." Molly is thrilled, and reveals that she was adopted, and she owes a lot to her parents.

The girls eat some dinner, and hang out, with Dominique, Dalya and Ondrei eating pizza. Dominique asks Ondrei if she has brothers and sisters, and Ondrei reveals she has two brothers who were killed. One was killed in a car accident, and the other was murdered the night before her prom. She seems calm about it, and Dalya is scared at the lack of emotion that Ondrei is showing regarding her brothers' deaths.

The next morning, the girls are visited by Tyra and nutritionist, Heather Bauer, who is Tyra's own nutritionist. They are there to give the girls some nutrition tips. Heather has developed what she calls "cheaties," which are foods that you may think may not be overly healthy, but really are. They play a game with the girls, having them put on a blindfold, while trying two separate dishes, and having to guess which is the most healthy. These are foods that they can indulge in from time to time, like spaghetti and meatballs, or a wheat waffle with peanut butter.

Later on, Monique finds some raw chicken in BBQ sauce, sitting in a cereal bowl, wrapped with tinfoil. She has a fit, and finds out that it's Alexandria's chicken. The two get into a fight over the proper storage of raw meat, and I'm instantly thinking déjà vu from back in Cycle 14, when Alasia left the frozen vegetables out and had a huge fight with Anslee about it.

The next day the girls are taken to the Colony Theater in Burbank, where they are lead to a stage. In the audience is Nigel Barker, and a man, who Nigel introduces as Eugene Buica, who is the Director of The Acting Corps. Nigel explains that today's challenge is about performing. As models, they will need to emote, to convince the director or the photographer that they are inspiring. Eugene asks the girls if they know that voice inside their head that tells them that they aren't pretty enough, or they aren't smart enough? That voice, he says is what he calls their inner critic. It will get you every time if you let it. Today's challenge will be to make a drawing of their inner critic. Then, Eugene will play the part of the critic, and the girls will have to interact with the critic, in order to overcome its negativity.

Molly talks about being adopted, and meeting her birth mother for the first time, and realizing how good she really has it. She says that she is happy that she was adopted, but she can't help it that a part of her is still feeling like she was unwanted as well.

Nicole talks about the voice inside her that tells her that she isn't good enough, and never will be good enough.

Jaclyn talked about her inner voice telling her she would never be a model because she has a baby face, and that her voice is too high.

Probably the most heartbreaking interaction was Ondrei, who broke down discussing the deaths of her two brothers. If people thought she showed no emotion about the loss before, they can see that she was just burying that emotion, and it all came out in the challenge.

After all the girls finish, Nigel praises the girls, and tells them that bringing out emotions shows their humanity to the camera, and this can be helpful to them in their modeling. He then tells them that J. Estina Jewelers is going to be giving each of the girls a pair of earrings.

Back at the house, winding down after the day, Ondrei calls her boyfriend and talks about how she had a hard day with the challenge, and her emotions about her brothers, and not knowing if she really could handle it. He told her that they would support her no matter what she chooses.

The next day, the girls arrive at Smashbox studios, where they meet Mr. Jay, who tells them about their exciting photo shoot. He tells them they will be wearing jewelery that is covered in pheremones that attract the bees. Jaclyn is nervous as she is allergic to bees, but she says that she's even more nervous about getting a good shot. Their photographer is Mike Rosenthal.

One by one the girls are brought into a room that is blocked off with netting, so the bees don't escape. Hannah has a difficult time, and actually started crying. Mr. Jay wasn't too happy with Dominique, and Dalya has a problem with her dead eyes, but Mr. Jay was even more disappointed with Ondrei, who clearly was just going through the motions, and not emoting anything.

That night, back at the house, the girls get the elimination Tyra Mail.

"Tomorrow you will meet with the judges. Only 12 will continue on in the hope of becoming America's Next Top Model."

The next day at judging, Tyra introduces the judges, including guest judge Alek Wek. She talks about the prizes, IMG modeling contract, spread in Vogue Italia, cover and spread in Beauty in Vogue, and the $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics.

The girls are critiqued one by one.

Ondrei- The judges didn't view her photo at first due to Ondrei mentioning that she wanted to go home, since she's going through a tough time in her life right now. The judges agreed, but said her photo would still be critiqued. If it was the worst in the bunch, no other person would be eliminated. If it wasn't the worst, there would be an elimination.

Ondrei says her goodbyes to the girls, telling them not to cry. Nigel wishes her good luck.

Kasia- Nigel thought her photo looked amazing. ALT likes the merge of fashion and art.

Mikaela- Nigel thinks it is very striking and loves her eye contact. ALT and Alek also love the photo. Tyra mentions that this is a great photo, but the rest of her shots were awful.

Dominique- ALT thinks she looks elegant and graceful. Tyra thinks it's stunning, but her film as a whole was not.

Britanni- Nigel thinks it's interesting. Alek thinks it's interesting.

Jaclyn- Nigel loves her profile. ALT likes it a lot, but wishes she did something else with her hands.

Dalya- Tyra comments on the fact that this is a photo of her with her eyes closed, because every picture with her eyes open, she looked crazy. Nigel suggests that she close her eyes for a moment, then flick them open so the photographer can get a shot.

Alexandria- Nigel thinks she looks like an ice queen. Tyra loves how she uses her whole body, but thinks she could use some more intensity in her eyes.

Sarah- ALT thinks she's very interesting. Nigel thinks she has a unique beauty, but she needs to own it.

Molly- Alek thinks she looks like a warrior, but could use her neck more.

Nicole- Nigel thinks she looks older. Tyra reminds everyone that this is the second week she has photographed older than she is. She says that Nicole needs to soften her face.

Hannah- Nigel comments on her crying in the photo. Hannah comments that it wasn't because of the bees, but because she had this wall when she went in there. Nigel appreciates that she is giving true emotion, though. ALT loves her neck and hands, and thinks that she looks like a prima ballerina.

Monique- ALT thinks she looks like a fabulous woman from Shanghai. Tyra thinks she looks evil. But, that is a good thing.

The girls leave while the judges deliberate, then come back in for the final decision.

The bottom two are Nicole and Dalya. The judges think Nicole looks like a teenager in person, but looks like the teenager's aunty in person. The judges love Dalya's bone structure, but are worried because she only had one good photo in her whole shoot. So, who goes home? We say goodbye to Nicole.
