The top 3 girls head home in their bus, and when they arrive, they see Molly's photo of the week from the previous week's panel. They each interview, with Molly saying she doesn't think Hannah is tough enough for the modeling world. Brittani realizes that Molly has had the best picture the past few weeks, and she knows she really needs to step it up, because if you're not on top, you're going home. Hannah thinks she is more rounded than the other two girls.
Time for Tyra mail!
"Tomorrow you'll know beauty inside, out and about. Love, Tyra"
The next morning, Mr. Jay shows up with three envelopes and you know it's time for a challenge. He tells them he has a special message from Hollywood. Everyone watches the big screen TV, and we see Lara Spencer from Inside Hollywood. She tells the girls that their next challenge will involve specific beauty trends, and they will have one hour to research the trend and come up with questions, and they'll talk with experts or someone that has experienced the trend. Then, they'll film a live 90-second shot talking about the trend, and the winner of the challenge will have their spot aired on the Inside Hollywood website, giving them a huge audience of millions of people.
The three topics are "Argon Oil," "Black Kohl" and "Henna." Molly picks Black Kohl, and we see her visit a shop that sells spices and herbs, and she talks with Abdul, who tells her that Black Kohl is a stone, like from mines. Molly interviews that she'll have to get her research done, then find someone on the street to interview, which should be great fun, since not many people speak English.
We cut to Brittani, who has chosen Henna, and she is roaming the streets, trying to find someone to interview. No one seems to speak English, until she finally meets a man, who is selling candy. He says he does a little bit, and when she asks him about it, he takes her to a shop, and she asks him again about it, and the other man in the shop, Youssef El Mahi, who is a Henna expert explains that the man she's chosen doesn't speak English. She then sits down and is worried if she lets someone else speak, they're gonna go on and on, and take up all her time. She then decides to write up what she's going to say on her own.
Next, we see Hannah, who naturally has Argan Oil. She informs us that she is a journalism major, so she's got this in the bag. She asks the specialist about Argan Oil, and the lady goes on for about a minute, and Hannah tells her she needs to be more brief, and try to explain in one or two sentences.
We don't actually see the girls film their videos, but instead, we watch the final pieces. Brittani's piece is first, and she explains about Henna, while her expert stands there waiting for him to ask him a question. In the background is a woman who is getting the Henna applied to her hands. Next, Brittani thanks the expert, whom she hasn't even said a word to, and runs off to the street where she interviews the guy who can't speak English. She gives him leading questions to which he answers "yes," and that's it.
Mr. Jay said he liked how she set up her topic, but then she didn't utilize her expert, and wasted about 10 seconds of her time, leaving for the street. So, seems she didn't do too hot.
Next is Molly who starts her shoot outside a store. She then explains about Black Kohl, and then she asks a lady in the store what types of things Black Kohl is used for. The lady replies in her native tongue, and the Black Kohl expert translates that it's used for eyeliner. She then asks if someone can show how the Black Kohl is applied as eyeliner. After this is done, it's time to wrap up, so Molly says "awesome" and thanks her expert, and then walks off set, mumbling "horrible."
Mr. Jay has to explain that "until the director yells cut, you are still live, and you need to remember that."
Hannah is ecstatic, and thinks she is gonna win. Next we watch her piece. She introduces Argan Oil, and tells what it is used for, while backing up into the shop. She then asks her expert to tell about the multi-functions of Argan Oil. After the lady says one sentence, she explains that the second lady is there to have Argan Oil applied to her hair. She asks her how she likes what Argan Oil does. The lady gets out one sentence, and Hannah cuts her off and ends her piece.
Mr. Jay tells her that he can tell she had a little issue with time as well. He wished that she would have let the people explain about the oil, rather than telling about it herself.
And the winner is… Molly. Hannah interviews that she can't believe that she didn't win this, because this was really up her alley. She's so disappointed. Makes you realize that Molly was right when she said that Hannah was too emotional.
Later, the girls are relaxing in their room when Tyra enters and asks them how they're feeling. Then she asks Molly what she talked about way back when they did the feelings acting challenge. Molly tells her that she talked about being adopted, and how she was really feeling bad at what she put her adopted parents through. She rebelled a lot, and they always gave her unconditional love.
Hannah talked about the feelings she talked about during the acting challenge. She said that back in middle school and high school, she always felt like she wasn't good enough. But, now, she has gained more self-esteem, and has embraced her goofy side.
When Tyra asked Brittani what she had revealed, she talked about her mom having severe panic disorder when Brittaniwas very young, and she wouldn't leave the house, and kids used to tease Brittani about it, and she used to be embarrassed about her mom. And now, she really appreciates her mom, because her mom got her into modeling.
Tyra tells the girls that these stories make each of them relatable. She thinks perfect is boring. She then takes them outside and tells them that she's going to photograph them. She's going to do their makeup and hair, and they just have to give her whatever they are feeling.
Tyra shoots each of the girls, and when she's done, she tells them the importance of being able to isolate certain moves. Then, she takes them up to the rooftop, where there are several Moroccan men playing music. They all take some time to dance and just relax before Tyra says that the next time she sees the girls, there will be an elimination, and there would only be two girls left.
The girls head down to their Moroccan home, where they find a Tyra mail!
"Are you really committed? You will be tomorrow. Love, Tyra"
The next day, the bus takes the girls to a beachside location, where they meet Nigel Barker, who is photographing Mr. Jay. They tell the girls that for their photo shoot, they will be wearing Moroccan wedding gowns, and they will be shooting with a male model.
The girls head to hair and makeup, and are introduced to the male model they will be doing their photo shoot with. Mr. Jay wants them all to talk about how they'll work as a team to make their photos work.
Molly is first to shoot, and when she starts out, she is not connected with the male model at all, and Mr. Jay is disappointed. Nigel gives her some pointers, and she seems to do a bit better, but not as good as she had been doing.
Hannah is next, and she has a storyline, which she describes to Nigel as being that she wants to pull away from him, but she also loves having him there. She does pretty well in her shoot, and Mr. Jay gives her some good feedback.
Brittani is last to shoot, and she tells Mr. Jay her storyline is that the couple is together, but they've just had a fight, so she is over it. When she begins her shoot, she is very standoffish with the male model. Mr. Jay stops her and tells her that the story isn't coming through, so Brittani starts getting frustrated, and she begins to cry, which adds to the emotion in the shot, and Mr. Jay loves it.
Time for panel. Tyra tells the girl about the prizes, and introduces the judges, including guest judge Ivan Bart, who is Sr. Vice-President of IMG models. She says that she loved the film of each of the girls so much that each girl has two shots this week.
First to be critiqued is Brittany. Nigel mentioned that Brittani had problems with the storyline, and it wasn't until later in the shoot that she really got vulnerable and showed her emotions. Ivan really likes the photo and thinks she did a fantastic job. In her second shot, Nigel really loved the photo, but remarked that Brittani can't cry every time he shoots her to emote. Ivan wasn't so happy with the second shot. Tyra thinks the second picture tells the story.
Next is Hannah. ALT thinks Hanna's first photo is one of her best of the Cycle. He loves the way she's showcasing the belt. He thinks it's very Italian Vogue. Tyra explains that when ALT comments on a piece of clothing, that means that the model is selling the item, which is what a model is supposed to do. In the second photo, Tyra says she likes the photo, and thinks it looks like a continuation of the same story. Ivan agrees with Tyra, and ALT likes the picture, but not the way Hannah has her foot.
Last is Molly. Nigel loves the shot, and explains that when he was shooting, he felt like he could have been the male model on the shoot, and that's a good thing. Ivan agrees that photograph is Molly's strong point. Tyra liked the subtleties of Molly's movements. Nigel also loves the second shot, saying it was like he was dancing with her when he was shooting her. Ivan again says that the camera loves her, and she does great things. ALT says that it's quite a compliment that Nigel felt it was a real collaborative moment between the photographer and the model. ALT also thinks Mollly's face is extraordinary.
Next the judges deliberated, and then called the models back to tell them who is going home.
Best photo goes to Molly, which means she's moving on to the finale, where she will walk in a Vivianne Westwood fashion show.. Brittaniand Hannah are in the bottom two. The judges feel that Hannah has a face that can really sell products, but they're not sure if she's got enough strength inside of her. And with Brittani, the judges see that she started out really strong domestically, but since she had been in Morocco, her photos aren't as strong as the other two girls. So, that makes them wonder if she is strong enough to be an international model. Which one will move on, and which one will go home? Brittani will move on to the finale, and Hannah will be going home.
Next week, the girls will be shooting their Beauty in Vogue shoot, and doing their CoverGirl commercial, as well as walking in a Vivianne Westwood fashion show. Tune in next Wednesday for the finale, to see which of these girls is going to be America's Next Top Model.
