America's Next Top Model - Cycle 15 - Finale recap

Last week on America's Next Top Model, we had a recap show, featuring clips of never-before-seen footage from Cycle 15 of the show. We are down to our final two -- Ann and Chelsey. Who will be America's Next Top Model? Read on to find out.

We start with the girls coming home in the bus, and they give each other a high five for being the Top 2. Back at the house, they eat pizza and talk about modeling. Chelsey interviews that she has wanted to be a model since she was a young girl, unlike Ann, who she thinks just got interested in modeling recently.

The next day, Ann and Chelsey take the bus to a location out in the country, where they will be shooting for Italian Vogue. They meet up with Valentina Serra, stylist for Vogue Italia, whom they met in episode 10, and their photographer, who is introduced to them by Valentina as Vincent Peters. He tells them they are going to do something a bit more natural for their Vogue shoot. He says that the more they can be themselves, the better the pictures are going to be.

It's off to hair and makeup, and Ann is first. Vincent says "Ann is more like a fashion model, a studio girl, very couture, very high end." Next, is Chelsey's turn. Vincent says about Chelsey, "She just works. She looks good. She's very comfortable in front of the camera, and she's got something that the camera likes."

After the shoot, the girls head back to the model apartment to find a Tyra Mail waiting on the TV screen.

Tyra Mail!

"Real high fashion models know how to commercialize their careers. Love, Tyra"

Both Chelsey and Ann know this means CoverGirl commercial. Ann is worried that there is no packet of lines to memorize, and thinks maybe they'll have to learn Italian really quickly or something.

The next day, the bus takes the girls to a small town, where the buildings are all old and very close together. They meet up with Mr. Jay, who is dressed in cargo shorts and a plaid shirt. Yikes! He tells them that they'll be filming both their commercial and the print ad for CoverGirl today. He then informs them that there will be no line memorizing today. They will lay down the audio track separately, and it will play over the commercial. He says that they'll each be on their own with the photographer, as he will be with the other girl, doing the audio.

Off to hair and makeup, and then they set up at a little cafe together, where they will be having a friendly time together. Chelsey takes out her CoverGirl makeup and reapplies her mascara, which is the product they're doing the commerical for. Ann takes out a small camera and snaps a pic of both of them, and they view it in the viewscreen. Mr. Jay is pleased with their performances.

Next, they film a scene buying a gelato from a street vendor. Both girls do well here as well. Then, just before they will film their print ad shot, Mr. Jay says that he thinks they could use some inspiration. Who could it be? From Ann and Chelsey's stunned "Oh my God!" statements, we see that it is their parents, plus Ann's brother, walking down the street towards them. They hug their respective family members, and chat for a short bit before Mr. Jay tells them that their families will get to watch them film their CoverGirl print ad, plus they'll be in the first row at the Roberto Cavalli fashion show the following day.

During Chelsey's CoverGirl print ad shoot, the photographer says that he found her to be very commercial. At Ann's voice over, Mr. Jay has to get her to loosen up, as her first read wasn't so hot. He tells her, "We're in Italy. They use their hands. Don't be afraid to gesture as you speak." That does the trick, and her next read is really good.

Chelsey's voice over was shown for a short bit, and on her first try, she read too quickly, but she tried again, and did fine. When Ann has her photo taken, the photographer says that he loved Ann, and thinks she's very editorial.

Back to the model house, and yet another Tyra Mail!

Tyra Mail!

"It's time to make one more important stop on your way to the top. Love, Tyra"

The next day, the bus takes the girls to a building where they meet a gentleman who introduces himself as Ivan Bart. Ivan is the Sr. Vice President of IMG Models. He tells them that he would like to chat with each of them separately, so he can get to know them better.

Chelsey is first, and she tells Ivan about her past trying to get into the modeling business, and when all is said and done, she feels she made a good impression. They look at her portfolio, and Ivan seems impressed with her photos. Ivan interviews that he thought that Chelsey had a great personality, and he felt very comfortable talking with her, and he can see IMG working with her.

Next is Ann. He asks her how she likes the competition so far. Ann says that she feels that she is getting more confident, and that back home, her height wasn't something positive, but now, she sees that her height is something to be proud of. They look at her portfolio, and Ivan comments that he likes the way she looks in clothes, but he thinks she needs some work on her personality a little bit.  All in all, Ivan interviews that his mind isn't made up at all, and he will be at the fashion show to see how they do.

Chelsey interviews that she feels that she has the full package to be America's Next Top Model. She points out that Ann has never won a challenge, and she's been in the bottom two, where Chelsey has won three challenges, and never been in the bottom two.

The next morning, the bus takes the girls to the location of the fashion show, where they meet Mr. Jay. He tells them they will be walking in a runway show for Roberto Cavalli, and wearing clothes from his "Just Cavalli" collection. He then tells them that they won't be the only Americans in the show. They've flown back some of their former competitors. There is Liz, Chris, Jane and Kayla. All four girls come out and line up next to Mr. Jay. Then, of course, they can't start the show without America's Next Top Model Cycle 14 winner Krista. Krista comes out and stands next to the other girls. Time for hair and makeup.

In the makeup chairs, Jane talks with Ann, giving her her vote of confidence, and says that Chelsey has had her chance, and it's Ann's chance now. Kayla is sitting with Chelsey, and giving her her support. She thinks Chelsey has the edge, and although she likes Ann, she really wants to see Chelsey win.

Ann and Chelsey's families are backstage, and Tyra comes in to chat with each of them, before going out on the runway to welcome the crowd to the show. Time to rock!

Krista starts the show in this gorgeous long sheer pink dress. Jane, Chris, Kayla and Liz each get a turn before it's Ann's turn. She looks like a zombie, her eyes wide open, and she looks like her shoes hurt a bit. Her dress is a cute, flowy sundress with a pink tee underneath. Chelsey is next with a very short green and black sleeveless dress. She sways her hips and walks well, but it's not the confident walk we've seen from Chelsey in weeks past. Perhaps she's nervous, and it's affecting her walk? Everyone gets a second pass through, and Krista is fierce on her second run. Ann's eyes aren't so bugged out on her second walk, but she looks like she's walking through quicksand. Chelsey's second walk was about the same as her first. Good, but not the confident walk we've seen in the past.

After the show, Ann and Chelsey's families are backstage once more to congratulate their daughters, and soon it's off to panel.

For the last time, Tyra tells about the prizes and introduces the judges -- Nigel Barker, Andre Leon Talley, and two special judges, Mr. Jay and Roberto Cavalli.

First, they look at Chelsey's film from the fashion show. Nigel thinks she is walking a little fast, and she looks a bit stiff. But, he says that the camera loves her, so all the photographs taken will look amazing. Tyra thinks she looks a little lost when she gets to the end of the runway. Mr. Jay agrees, saying she looked very tentative, and she didn't exhibit the same strengths that she shows on a photo shoot. Roberto said he didn't like when Chelsey put her hand on her hip, as that was a little old fashioned. Andre said he felt no snap, no crackle and no pop, but her legs looked fantastic.

When they look at Ann's film from the fashion show, Nigel says that he thinks she's really improved in her walk. He mentioned that her eyes looked like they were bulging out of her head, however. Tyra said it looked a little zombie. Roberto thought Ann looked like she was scared.

Now, they'll look at the CoverGirl commercial. First they show the commercial shot together. Andre was engaged by both girls. Mr. Jay liked how the girls fed off each other's energy. Nigel tells Chelsey that he feels she is a natural smiler, and it shows.

Time to check out the CoverGirl photo. They start with Chelsey first. Nigel calls it very strong, with a lot of power in the eyes. Tyra calls it "stunning, stunning, stunning." Mr. Jay reveals that the photographer said about Chelsey that "shooting her was a joy."

In looking at Ann's photo, Nigel thinks the photo is interesting, but not something CoverGirl would normally use. Andre is drawn into the picture. Mr. Jay revealed that it was really difficult to get to that shot. He felt she was holding back. Tyra tells of loving to look through Ann's film week after week, as she would always have stunning photos, but this time, she felt Ann clenched up.

Time to deliberate, then they'll call the girls back and announce who is America's Next Top Model. They seem to think that Ann is more Italian fashion and Chelsey is more American fashion. Seems the bell has tolled with that comment.

When the girls come back, Tyra reveals that Ann is America's Next Top Model.

What did you think? Did they make the right decision? Post in the comments above.
