Enough about the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.
There is a war raging daily across America: on Facebook pages, chat rooms and online dating websites, apparently.
Here I was, in sleepy Reno, Nevada, perusing the plethora of available men at PlentyOfFish (a free online dating website), when I received a nibble from an intelligent, 50-ish boyfish. He was somewhat attractive, articulate and interested in having a cuppa Joe with moi, self-described as "a property manager and conservative writer (Reno Conservative Examiner), so if you lean to the right, definitely check out my column and drop me a line!"
I was clear about my politics, right?
Boyfish writes:
Fair warning, I tend to be on the liberal side of things political and speak my mind, especially when it comes to the war we are having with the elite.
Heck, if Alexander Hamilton (liberal) and Thomas Jefferson (conservative) could get along, perhaps we could too. James Carville and Mary Matalin are still married, aren't they?
Nice conservative girlfish response:
You said that you're an independent thinker... so how about this: There is no "war with the elite," unless by elite you mean "We, the People."
Uh-oh. Boyfish becomes UberLibManShark:
Hate to start via disagreement, but the Kochs and the SCOTUS decision in Citizens vs. Consolidated have in fact been the first shots fired in a war between the privileged and the rest of the US. The forcing of a referendum in WI without regard for debate is also a travesty. The elite are NOT the goodfellas, they are money worshipping opportunists who could care less about outsourcing jobs to improve their bottom line, seconding us to a failing economy and holding what should be their fair share against the rest of us for massive gain.
I hate liars. Manshark did not "tend" to the left or "hate to start via disagreement." A quick check of his Facebook page showed he is so far left he sees Russia from Reno, and he fully intended to disagree with any and all things conservative or right-leaning. (On Facebook, he repeatedly challenged conservatives to counter his numerous liberal sharkian diatribes. No one did, so he was left to talk to himself. A lot.)
How did this clearly conservative girlfish respond to the shark's bait?
Dear Sir,
I stand corrected. Alexander Hamilton, you are not.
As a constitutional conservative, I enjoy talking with liberals who are capable of intelligent repartee with conservatives who see the world from a different angle, a constitutional one, á la the intent of our Founding Fathers, per their writings in The Federalist Papers.
Unfortunately, some liberals are so jaded by misguided notions of "elite," "privileged," and "fair share," that they cannot entertain any ideals but their own. Their America would cease to be a republic of independent states and citizens, unable to enjoy the fruits of their unlimited success. Instead, America would be suffocated by obsessive federal governmental regulations, restricted God-given liberty, and redistribution of everyone's wealth, under a misbegotten banner of "fairness" and "equality."
There IS a war between "the elite" and We, the People. But the elite are the uberliberal, self-described intellectual elites who want to lead supposedly-stupid Americans to an illusory promised land of shared wealth and socialist governmental dependency.
When Americans cease to honor our roots and blindly follow the POTUS's Kool-Aid-inspired notion of rich vs. poor, corporation vs. employee and equal distribution of wealth via government edict, what do we become? Ask a good friend of yours:
"In a higher phase of communist society... only then can the narrow horizon of bourgeois right be fully left behind and society inscribe on its banners: from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." ~ Karl Marx.Happy fishing elsewhere!
Kelly Wright in Reno
While Hamilton and Jefferson agreed on our country's founding principles, some liberals today have moved so far left they threaten our constitutional sovereignty.
This is the war Americans need to worry about now.
