Tails were wagging as more than 700 homeless pets found their forever homes at America’s Family Pet Expo held April 25-27 at the OC Fair & Event Center. The event featured hundreds of adoptable dogs, cats, pocket pets and potbelly pigs from Southern California animal rescue partner organizations. During the three-day event, 132 cats, 579 dogs and 1 guinea pig were adopted into forever homes.

The central focus of the America’s Family Pet Expo is to educate consumers about choosing and caring for a pet that’s right for their family. This year marked the expo’s 25th year in Southern California, and the producer’s of the America’s Family Pet Expo are proud to continue the tradition of providing exciting, family entertainment while promoting responsible pet care.

A menagerie of animals were on site including dogs, cats, miniature horses, birds, exotic reptiles, pot belly pigs, birds and fish to provide guests the opportunity to experience these animals in a variety of different ways. Ample learning experiences were provided by the American Veterinary Medicine Association to promote responsible, educated pet ownership. Police and Protection Dog Demonstrations provided guests with opportunities to watch and learn how K9 officers and their dogs are used to protect our communities. The TICA Cat Show & Presentations interacted with cat enthusiasts and owners to answer questions about cats and teach guests about cat breeds and their unique personalities.

The Extreme Canines Dog Stunt Show entertained guests with high-energy stunt dogs that performed high jumps, navigated obstacles courses and soared for Frisbees. The Splash Dogs made a splash as they competed for the longest jump into the pool. Weiner dogs dashed down a track at the Old World Wiener Nationals Dachshund Races. The Great American Petting Zoo offered a variety of animals from goats, pigs, deer and horses for guests to brush, touch and feed.

This year, the expo featured more than 450 exhibitors showcasing the latest in pet products and pet trends, ranging from designer outfits, leashes, cat scratchers, toys, organic and natural pet food to pet-inspired artwork.

The America’s Family Pet Expo is created, produced and managed by World Pet Association, Inc., a 60-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsible pet care. Plans are underway for the 26th America’s Family Pet Expo, April 10-12, 2015 at the OC Fair & Event Center.
