That is the scenario if cartels like Borden, Dean Foods, and the Dairy Farmers of America are able to squeeze out small independent farmers. America has slept while jobs and industries have gone overseas due to monopolization and stringent government regulation which strangle the free market. As you read
this, a battle rages for one of the few remaining commodities produced in our country. When will America finally say ENOUGH!?
According to National Public Radio, large corporations such as Dean Foods and Dairy Farmers of America have joined forces to create a huge monopoly in order to drive prices and control the market. Typically, this forces smaller, independent business owners to close, creating less competition for the larger monopoly. The monopoly then hires lobbyists, or supports a favorite politician who controls regulation which will prevent or hinder future competition and benefit the monopoly.
Not only will this affect prices, but it will produce a drastic reduction in the quality of milk and dairy products. In order to streamline production and keep costs at an affordable level, large corporations are forced to cut corners. Often they introduce harmful chemical agents, as in the case of Monsanto which introduced Posilac, a genetically re-engineered Bovine Growth Hormone in order to facilitate milk production. Some controversy has been raised due to possible links between rBGH and cancer. Monsanto later became embroiled in a lawsuit with reporters from Fox News Network over potential release of these findings. The story of Monsanto and Posilac demonstrates how large corporations not only affect politics, but the mainstream media as well.
Unfortunately, America is rife with situations similar to this one. Gerald Celente identifies this type of corpora-political merger as fascism, the definition of which he attributes to Mussolini. America cannot continue voting in the same politicians over and over expecting different results. If this trend of corpora-political fascism is to be broken, leaders who understand both the economy and free market principles will have to be put into place. Leaders like Ron Paul and Peter Schiff have been predicting these conditions for decades and have remained outside the Washington “beltway“ which is addicted to both power and greed. America can no longer afford to vote on popularity and secondary agendas alone.
Another solution is to buy American. Support your local farmer by purchasing at produce stands and farmer’s markets. Google “made in America” for American made products and refuse to buy solely from the giant manufacturers. It is past time to wake up, we have drastically overslept. “We the people” are the only solution for our country. Wake up America!
Is Posilac safe?

I believe Borden products are posilac free; they are rBgh free.
Have you read Robyn O'Brien's book, The Unhealthy Truth? Lots of info on Monsanto affecting our health and the markets in there.
just in time for codex alimentarious ... im sure these corprate giants will follow suit with the wishes of the U.N. and the law implemented by the federal government which is to go into affect on dec. 31st 2009, these corprate giants won't have any problem taking all nutrition out of the dairy products that we all trust for nutritional value...
I find myself needing to correct your false statement. Posilac is NOT a hormone produced from genetically enginered e-coli. The last thing we want is to give our cows e-coli. Cows naturally produce a hormone called bovine somatotropin (bST) It was found that cows who naturally produced more of this hormone gave more milk. A synthetic version of this hormone was produced (rbST). This is the version that can be given to cows via an injection. Women use estrogen replacement all the time for those that don't produce enough of it their is estrogen available to them! It is sad that so much hype surrounds bST but the truth of it is always twisted. A lie told often enough can soon become BELIEVED as the truth.
California, thanks for the input. I toned the article down.
Agree California Dairy Farmer...unfortunately some uninformed consumers (driven by scare tactics) have taken a completely safe product and very useful tool for the dairy farmer, Posilac, and villified it. Just like with Posilac, the same people try to do the same with GMO crops. it is unbelievable just how stupid some people are.
I guess my question would be why is there a need to "synthetically alter" milk production in cows in the first place? It would seem if independent farmers were supported, or at best, left alone, there would be enough natural milk production to satisfy the demand...
