Everyone loves a good rivalry, right? For gamers, those rivalries seem second nature. From Sonic vs. Mario, Call of Duty vs. Battlefield, Xbox vs. PlayStation or console vs. PC, gamers are a combative bunch that loves to pledge allegiance to one side or another.
One of the more dedicated rivalries is between Nvidia and AMD. Battling it out within the GPU market, debates between fans of both manufactures have forged on for years. Adding to these debates, the manufactures almost always jump into the fray, proving choice words for their competition.
This week is no different, as the announcement of AMD's new graphic API "Mantel" has brought them to the front-line of the fan boy battlefield. When discussing their new line of products, AMD Product Manager Devon Nekechuck had some choice words for Nvidia and their haloed "Titan" GPU:
"With Battlefield 4 running with Mantel, the card will be able to ‘ridicule’ the Titan in terms of performance.”
Some choice words from a company who has always pushed the value/performance ratio in comparison to Nvidia cards. With AMD's new line of cards coming to the market this December, fans will be able to see if these claims hold true.
Nvidia has yet to respond, but knowing how vocal they have been regarding next generation console performance, SteamOS support and their affinity to mobile processors, one could perceive them as actually taking the first shots.
