Among all the WWE rumors surrounding new network television deals, AMC has been mentioned on more than one occasion as a suitor. That seems less likely now, as PWS reported on March 27 that a new AMC professional wrestling show is coming but the company is Resistance Pro Wrestling and not the WWE.
AMC, which has become a ratings juggernaut thanks to shows like "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad" and "The Walking Dead," will team with Billy Corgan to air a new professional wrestling reality show.
Unlike shows like WWE and TNA Impact Wrestling, this show is not so much about showcasing in-ring action and storylines as much as it is about pulling back the curtain to show how the business of running a professional wrestling promotion works.
Billy Corgan, the lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins, runs the creative direction for Resistance Pro Wrestling, a company he created in 2011. The AMC professional wrestling reality show promises to show Corgan as he works on building his promotion into a success.
Resistance Pro has had some famous names wrestling for them, including Teddy Hart, Colt Cabana, Sami Zayn, Harry Smith, Kevin Steen and more. The roster listed on their website is a bit more obscure, which should play well in the behind-the-scenes look at a small independent wrestling promotion.
