Ryan Bittle has signed a contract to portray JR Chandler on the Prospect Park/Online Network Internet revival of “All My Children,” Soap Opera Network revealed on Feb. 25.
Jacob Young was not able to return as JR because he is under contract to the CBS soap opera, “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Rick Forrester. Adam "JR" Chandler, Jr. is the son of Adam Chandler and Dixie Cooney Chandler Martin.
Soap Opera Network reports that Bittle is a veteran actor who started out in television in 1994 in the teen series “Sweet Valley High” as Todd Wilkins. Ryan’s recent television appearances include the HBO series “Shameless” starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, NBC’s new comedy “The New Normal” starring Ellen Barkin and “RHOA” NeNe Leakes, as well as the Fox drama “Bones,” starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz.
Ryan Bittle appeared on two episodes of “All My Children” as “Logan” in 2010. The 2.0 Prospect Park/Online Network version of “AMC” will be available to view on the Internet later this spring.
“All My Children” fans had hoped that Michael E. Knight would be back as Tad Martin for the “AMC” reboot, which began taping on Monday, Feb. 25, but it seems Knight is not quite ready to return.
On Feb. 11 Michael E. Knight, who portrayed Thaddeus “Tad” Martin explained his status to Soap Opera Network:
“With me personally, it was simply an issue of timing, period. I consider [Executive Producer] Ginger Smith to be, actually one of my oldest and dearest friends, in that industry and in life. And I asked her patience with me because as I like to put it, I didn’t say no, I just said “I can’t do it right now.’ I love the fact that the interest is there and I firmly believe Tad [Martin] is going to be walking through Pine Valley in short order at some point.”
