Earlier this week, Leah started kindergarten, and on her first day, there was a filming crew in tow.
“First day of school!” Shirley tweeted to fans, according to an Aug. 5 report by Starcasm. Portwood was in attendance as well and told a fan on Twitter she was “just now dropping her off :)”
In photos of the event, a camera crew was seen. In a photo of Leah in the parking lot, a man with a camera was squatting in the background and in a second photo, of Portwood, cameras are seen on the dashboard of an automobile.
At the end of 2012, "Teen Mom" was cancelled following its fourth season. At the time, fans assumed that the show had ended because Portwood was in prison. In June of that same year, Portwood turned herself in to serve a five-year prison sentence after she failed to complete a court-ordered drug rehab program. And although Portwood ultimately received an early release, there would have been no way for her to continue on with the show.
Earlier this year, after the airing of the "Being" series, including Maci Bookout's "Being Maci and Farrah Abraham's "Being Farrah," Us Weekly reported that MTV was bringing back "Teen Mom" -- but without Abraham, who moved on from the series and starred in a sex tape.
MTV "willingly cut Farrah" from negotiations after the rest of the cast failed to agree to come aboard with her on.
"MTV agreed," the insider told the magazine. "They feel she set a bad example and doesn't represent the network well. They don't want their kids on a show where someone's talking about sex toys."
