Amber Holcomb surprised the panel of judges with a vocally strong performance on "American Idol" Tuesday night.
Performing a soulful rendition of "I Believe In You and Me" by Whitney Houston, Holcomb proved the value of her vocal talent with runs, a few major moments and vocal control. She even earned a standing ovation in the end.
"What a perfect song for you. You had no shortage of confidence. Your voice is beautiful. Your tone is exquisite. I've got a feeling that I'm going to be hearing a lot more of that," said an impressed Keith Urban.
Happy that Amber Holcomb showcased personality and confidence, Nicki Minaj said there is no one else on her level in the competition.
"Amber I'm so happy that you're showing your personality. Sweetheart, your vocals are surpassing even this competition. Nothing that came before you is even on that level," said Minaj. "I'm a fan. Vote for Amber."
Randy Jackson agreed, noting Holcomb's confidence.
"Amber is definitely in it to win it. You take on the late great Whitney (Houston). One of the greatest ever. I'm so proud of you. That girl believes right there," said Jackson.
Happy for Amber Holcomb, Mariah Carey added "I've been waiting to hear you sing all night because you are one of my favorite people in the competition. I'm so happy that America gets to vote for you."
With a standing ovation and positive reviews, will Amber Holcomb make it into the top ten?
