Amber Alert update: Zahra Baker may be missing longer than first thought (video)
An Amber Alert was issued for 10-year-old cancer survivor Zahra Baker on Sunday, October 10th, after her stepmother, Elisa Baker, reported her missing. Elisa Baker said that she last saw Zahra Baker early Saturday morning, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Authorities also say that there was a suspicious fire at the family home in Hickory, North Carolina at approximately 5:00 a.m. Two vehicles at the home were burned. Elisa Baker and her husband, Zahra’s father, Adam Baker, say they did not check on Zahra at 5:00 a.m. She was not reported missing until 2:30 p.m. October 10, 2010.
Authorities say that a ransom note for Zahra Baker was found in one of the cars that was burned in the back yard. The authenticity of the ransom note has not been proved.
During a press conference today authorities said they cannot verify the stories of Elisa and Adam Baker and cannot confirm that Zahra was last seen on Saturday. Authorities are working on establishing a timeline and say they cannot confirm that anyone has seen Zahra within a month. Zahra was homeschooled, though she had attended public schools in the past. The family had recently moved to the neighborhood.
Some of the Baker’s neighbors are reporting that Elisa Baker was cruel to Zahra as well. Elisa Baker is currently in jail on unrelated charges. She has not been ruled out as a person of interest in the case. During an interview with Adam Baker on Good Morning America, Adam Baker was asked if he believed his wife may be involved in Zahra’s disappearance. He replied, “I wouldn’t like to think so. It’s kind of what I’ve heard so far. It could be possible.”

SICK! I got sick from this..I have a little girl who will be 10 in couple of weeks.I wait many times until I see all facts and evidence-sorry,not in this case.
There was a fire-two cars burned down,yet they do not check on this girl.
They are not rich-yet there is that ransom note for one milion-now stepmom admits she wrote it.Nobody outside this "family" saw this angel for over a months...and it goes on!
