A Texas Amber Alert has been issued for missing 14-year-old Haylie White, who is believed to have left with a 33-year-old neighbor with whom she was romantically involved. Reports say that Jacob West, the alleged suspect, had been a friend of the family. Jan Nixon, Haylie White’s mother, says her daughter went willingly with West, and that she literally tried to restrain her daughter from leaving.
"I tried to pull her leg to get her out of the truck, but she wouldn't get out. She just kind of laughed at me." Nixon told KTRK-TV.
CBS News reported that White’s parents learned of an inappropriate relationship between the teenager and West and sent White to stay with her uncle Dana Nixon, as a means of separating the two.
"She hopped in the guy's truck and took off. I think he is manipulating her," Dana Nixon said to media.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is handling the case and announced that sexual assault charges have been filed against West. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
Haylie White is described as being five feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing jeans with a tie-dyed shirt.
The suspect Jacob West is a 33-year-old white male who stands 6'2" tall and weighs 220 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a GMC silver Envoy with the Texas license plate AT42794.
Those with information on the case are asked to contact the Harris County Constables Office - Precinct 4, at (281) 376-3472. Please call 911 in case of an immediate emergency.
