10-year-old Zahra Claire Baker is missing from her Hickory, North Carolina home and authorities have not ruled out Zahra's step mother as a person of interest.
Zahra was last seen around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday in her bedroom on 21st Avenue, and was reported missing around 2:00 p.m. that afternoon, by her father and step-mother.
"We are conducting interviews now and following up on the leads we have so far," said Clyde Deal, deputy chief of the Hickory Police Dept. "As of right now, we haven't ruled anything out. We're exploring all possibilities."
There is no sign of forced entry and no signs of foul play. Zahra's hearing devices were left in the house. Zahra has been battling bone cancer most of her life and she has a prosthetic leg.
During the search for Zahra, police have arrested Elisa, Zahra's step-mother for unrelated charges, stemming from writing bad checks and driving with out a license. When Adam, who looks like he is barely holding it together during the interview with ABC, was asked if he believed his wife was involved in Zahra's disappearance, he said, "I wouldn't like to think so. It's kind of what I've heard so far. It could be possible."
When Adam was asked what his wife said, "She didn't know very much. She came out crying and panicking. She told me Zahra was gone. I think just about every officer in Hickory came to the house. I just hope I can get my daughter back. I miss her so much."
Zahra is described as white, 5'1" tall, 75 pounds, brown hair, blue eyes. She is hearing-impaired and has a prosthetic left leg before her knee. She was last see wearing a camouflage t-shirt and black tights.

It was her step mother not mother. Her mother is in Australia and her father took her out of the country without the mothers permission. I hope he is arrested for kidnapping.
How do you know about her maternal mother. I've not heard anything except about the grandmother?
Yes, it says in the article it was her stepmom.
Have the police even took any hair samples in the home to see if Zahra has even ever been in that house in the last 6 weeks ,since that is when they moved there ????????
