Online retail giant, Amazon, announces the opening of a new one million square foot warehouse in Ruskin, FL in 2014.
Over a third of the jobs will average $47,581 annually, the remaining two-thirds will start at $11 an hour. Amazon's proposal to the State of Florida, plans to eventually bring 3,000 jobs to the State by 2016. The Tampa area jobs in Ruskin are scheduled to begin next year. Tampa Bay Times reported details are to be followed by company officials due to confidential negotiations. But, consumers in Florida are subject to a 6 percent state sales tax once facility is operating in Florida as required under Florida law. In 1992, the Supreme Court ruled sales tax would be imposed on an internet company that has physical operations in a state.
