Amazon preparing a $99 Kindle Fire HD (Video)

Amazon is preparing a $99 Kindle Fire HD, according to a March 20 Tech Crunch report. The $99 Kindle Fire HD tablet will be the 7 inch version. While the Kindle Fire HD has not killed the iPad Mini, it could totally kill the other Android tablets at this new, lower price.

This cheaper Kindle Fire HD will have a TI processor and a 1280×800 resolution, which means it will be a good bargain at $99. Amazon also lowered the prices of its 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD tablets earlier this month. Plus, they have some type of carrier billing in the works.

Overall, Amazon is poised to really grab a huge share of the Android tablet market. IDC Research Director on tablets, Tom Mainelli said,

"The infrastructure is definitely in place for Amazon to go even lower. If they can sell the product at roughly what it costs to build, that fits their long-term vision to make money selling you content on that device. It’s entirely possible – physically possible – to create a device that costs $99, particularly at the scale that Amazon would do it."

The great news is that this is not only good for Amazon, but it is also a good deal for you. You can jump into the tablet market for a low cost, and have a nice, usable piece of equipment. While Amazon denies the $99 Kindle Fire HD, there is some likelihood that they will release one soon.
