Amazon.com went down on Monday afternoon, those who stopped by the website were greeted with a message from Amazon; "Website temporarily unavailable." While the message indicated that they were making some improvements to their website, it is not known if this outage included Amazon users world wide, according to Market Watch on Aug. 19.
The message read "Our Website is currently unavailable while we make some improvements to our service. We'll be open for business again soon, please come back shortly to try again. Thank you for your patience."
Market Watch's requests to Amazon for a comment weren't immediately returned. The outage didn't seem to bother the trading as Amazon's shares were up $1.22 at $286.04 in late trading.
According to ZD Net, Amazon was offline for approximately 25 minutes, they also reported that:
"AWS Management Console was experiencing elevated error rates across all regions of the world, including North America and Europe. There was also a flagged issue with a North Virginia data center that was quickly resolved."
