Amazon announced today the launch of it's new shopping application for the Windows Phone 7.
“We are thrilled to add Windows to our suite of Amazon shopping applications,” said Sam Hall, director of Amazon Mobile. “We’ve combined the unique attributes of Windows Phone 7 with the popular Amazon shopping features customers have come to know and trust, to create an app that’s customized for Windows Phone 7 devices.”
The application offers the same features as it's predecessors for the Blackberry, iOS, and Android. It is being offered for free in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
“This is a great move forward for Amazon,” said Sam Norris, a telecommunications analyst based in Los Angeles. “The app is based on the Metro User Interface, so it's easy to use for everyone.”
The app features the new panoramic-style layout of the Windows user interface, where customers can swipe left and right to view details of a product, read customer reviews, browse related items and make a purchase from Amazon. Customers can also access their Amazon.com account and favorite shopping features wherever they are, including Gold Box Deal of the Day and Lightning Deals, personalized recommendations, Wish Lists, 1-Click ordering, Amazon Prime membership, order tracking and more.
“If you have a Windows 7 phone then it's a must-have,” said Norris.
