Looking for a holiday job? Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos announced this week that the company will be hiring more than 70,000 full time workers at fulfillment centers in the U.S. and Canada. All seasonal employees will be eligible for health care benefits. (List of Amazon's hiring locations and link to apply below)
These positions will be seasonal to keep up with the retail demand as we move into the holiday shopping season.
Amazon hired approximately 50,000 seasonal workers last year, increasing the number of new-hires by about four percent this year.
Seasonal Fulfillment Associates will work a full-time schedule with opportunities for overtime. Casual dress is the norm and employees work in climate-controlled facilities.
The uptick in hiring is due to the company's continued growth in sales from Kindle devices, media, Web services and, of course, their massive online superstore that offers everything from toys to groceries to televisions.
There's extra good news for many who get hired on as seasonal workers. Amazon states that thousands of holiday employees will be hired on a permanent basis after the holiday season.
Amazon offers competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package that includes healthcare, 401(k) and company stock awards to regular, full-time fulfillment center positions (non-holiday).
