Is it ever too early to think of holiday shopping and Black Friday deals? Not in this day and age! Online sales giant Amazon has a new phone to go along with their tablets, and they are preparing early for the annual phone holiday battle. As of late July, the Amazon Fire Phone user manual and reviews are available, with some touting the smartphone as a legitimate contender with the likes of iPhone and Galaxy smartphones this coming holiday season. The newest device by Amazon was released months ahead of the Black Friday holiday shopping season, giving the company time to get customer feedback and tweak the design.

The Tech Media Source site reported on July 27 that they have released one of the first user guides for the new Amazon device, which offers help, tips and tricks. In addition, the website has presented their early impressions of the smartphone. Among the pros are the new features such as dynamic perspective, tilt gesturing, great display and the Firefly feature. Among the cons so far are battery life, the fact the phone is tied exclusively to AT&T, and limited app availability for the Fire Phone.

A report from MultiChannel Merchant indicates that another issue right now is that not many merchants have optimized their websites for appearance on the new Fire Phone. Among those who have are Gymboree, PetSmart and Spanx. Right now, most other major sites will be shown on the Fire Phone as the regular desktop or laptop version one would see online. However, there’s plenty of time for other sites to either adjust their sites or develop more specialized apps for the new smartphone ahead of holiday shopping season.

Right now, there’s about four months until Black Friday arrives, and Amazon is most likely hoping this device will be a big seller for holiday shoppers. It’s unknown how strongly it will compete with Apple, which could have their iPhone 6 coming by then. Samsung also has the S5, which many customers have been rating highly. However, for those who are Amazon loyalists though, this may be the phone to get for music, videos, books and shopping through the site according to a Boston Herald report as this new phone has a lot of upside to it.

The Fire Phone currently has 172 customer reviews on Amazon and the 32 gigabyte model ranks as the top seller for the site’s contract cell phones. The Samsung Galaxy S5 ranks at the next three spots, showing that it could potentially be a tough battle going into the holidays. Will Amazon’s loyal customers be satisfied enough with what the smartphone has to offer to outdo anything new from Apple? It should be one interesting holiday smartphone battle!
