Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award 2013 first round chosen

The selections for entries moving to the second round in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award have been announced today. Out of up to 10,000 entries, Amazon editors have selected the first 2000 based on the novel pitch presented by the entrants. The categories include: General Fiction, Romance, Mystery/Thriller, Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror, and Young Adult Fiction.

Next round winners will be chosen by March 15th, 2013 based on an excerpt from each novel. Amazon editors and Amazon Vine Reviewers will read 3,000 to 5,000 word Excerpts from each of the selected 2,000 Entries to narrow the field to up to 500 Quarter-Finalists.
