Starting in October, Kindle users will be able to purchase digital copies of the hard copies they have already purchased from Amazon.com for $2.99 or less. According to the press release issued on September 3, 2013, Kindle Matchbook will allow purchases of books made from the time Amazon opened the online bookstore in 1995 to the present to be downloaded at a discounted price provided that the author makes the title available in the program. Titles from authors Jodi Picoult, Ray Bradbury, Wally Lamb, and many others are said to be included in the 10,000 books already enrolled.
The Article also highlighted some of the other features for the Kindle Matchbook including a way readers can access their purchase history and discover which titles are available for download in a quick and easy manner. While it will include many features for Kindle users only, the program will also be available for users of the Kindle app on Android and IPhone devices.
This announcement came immediately following the press release introducing the new Kindle Paperwhite, the 6th generation of the Kindle that promised new features at an affordable price.
