Amazon's Kindle enjoyed a great season, with over one million of them heading out the door to happy ebook readers, which was a greater number than before.
Jeff Bezos, owner and CEO of Amazon, issued a statement announcing that Kindle Fire was the top sellling gadget, along with the Kindle Touch and latest generation of the Kindle. The Fire was also the most received gift under the tree.
Authors continue to reap the benefits of the ebook revolution and Kindle's success. Two of the top ten best selling books on Amazon were indie published -- The Mill River Recluse by Darcie Chan and The Abbey by Chris Culver.
With Kindle sales rising, the sales of ebooks will also make a huge jump this year. Both indie authors and publishers, as well as traditional ones, have been reaping the rewards; most especially the indie authors, with books priced in the $.99 - 2.99 range. Customers have access to an entire library without having lug around the physical books, making it easier and more attractive to the entire reading experience.
Amazon anticpates an continued growth in Kindle and ebook sales for 2012, possibly tripling last years sales. Time will tell.
