SARASOTA, FL: - Yet another amazing testimony to the need for and power of micro-chipping your "indoor" cat! 200 miles in two months?!?!? This poor baby!
So many people seem to think that indoor cats are immune to the dangers and illnesses of outdoor cats, but it just in't so. One veterinarian pointed out to me that indoor cats... upon finding themselves outdoors .... are usually so panicked that they run until they're exhausted and then don't know where they are when they stop.
Another stated to me that if your "indoor" cat ever sits in an open window, it IS susceptible to the FIV virus and other diseases transmittable my sniffing or spitting through a screen with another cat. And of course indoor cats probably don't have the immunities built up that their less-fortunate, less protected outdoor feline friends have.
All good reasons to
A) get your indoor cat microchipped and
B) have your indoor cats vaccinated JUST IN CASE. Always better safe than sorry.
And PS - Remember the affordable microchipping event coming up in Sarasota: "The Cat Hospital in partnership with Cat Depot will hold a One Day Special Microchip event on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Cat Hospital of Sarasota, 3845 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, FL.
