Now officially called TCL Chinese Theatre Imax, and formerly Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Hollywood’s most amazing movie showcase reopens to the public this Friday, September 20, 2013 after months of painstaking restoration and remodeling. Your LA Travel Diva Examiner was treated to a sneak preview of the new venue today, September 16, for a special 3-D screening of the legendary “Wizard of Oz”(which debuts, along with the movie house, next Friday for a week-long run). To say we were awed by the both the film and the new theatre is an understatement. They are both mind-boggling and you can read more about in a second post coming soon. We published a piece about this on April 12, 2013,with the announcement by IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX) and Chinese Theatres LLC about their agreement to add the largest IMAX® theatre in the world to the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, through an extensive transformation of the landmark site.

Home to more than 40 of the world’s biggest, A-list film premieres per year as well as the celebrated handprint and footprint forecourt, the historic, world-famous TCL Chinese Theatre has emergied from its first major makeover in 85 years..

FYI: the "Wizard of Oz" in 3-Day is beyond amazing and you should not miss it. Bring the kids, they will love it but so will all generations, it's a classic. The film only runs for a week starting Friday, September 20.
