Amazing Arizona Comic Con to host comic book legends in January

The Amazing Arizona Comic Convention plans to kick off its third year in true style with the likes of Marvel Comic creator Stan Lee and DC Comics head Jim Lee on the guest list.

The convention will occur at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix on January 25-27. This will be the events' first time occupying the downtown convention space, and it certainly will bring its big guns to boot.

Among the various convention guests will be Stan Lee, famous for the X-Men, Spider-man, Iron Man and his various other Marvel Comic creations. On the other side of the comic spectrum, best-selling comic artist and current head of DC Comics, Jim Lee will also be in attendance.

Stan Lee will be hosting a contest at the convention where he will give away about $2,000 worth of comics from his personal collection to an attendee, according to a recent press release.

Plenty of other great guests will populate the convention as well such as famous cosplayer Jessica Nigri, local comic artist John Layman, Phineas and Ferb writer and artist Mat Nastos, and numerous others. Cosplay groups such as The 501st Star Wars live action troop, the Arizona Avengers, and Justice League Arizona will also be present at the event to interact with attendees.

Parents can also bring their own young comic enthusiasts along for the convention's third day, dubbed Kids' Day, which will consist of Nastos drawing and autographing Phineas and Ferb art, exhibitor Boom Studios bringing Adventure Time comics, and a costume contest with prizes for participants.

And if all the comic and cosplay programming isn't your style, the gaming group Arcade Zone Hard Punch (or AZHP as they're commonly known) will be hosting a space dedicated to video game casual play and tournaments throughout the entire weekend.

Tickets are currently on sale through Ticketmaster for the Amazing Arizona Comic Con. An all-access pass for the entire weekend is $50, while single day passes cost $25 for Friday, $35 for Saturday, and $25 for Sunday.
