Amanda Seyfried has been cast as the lead actress in the movie "Ted 2," the first sequel to the 2012 blockbuster comedy "Ted." Mila Kunis was the lead actress in the first "Ted" movie. According to a Deadline report published on Feb. 24, 2014, "Ted" writer/producer/director Seth McFarlane (who also voices the teddy bear character Ted in the movies) made the decision to cast Seyfried instead of Kunis as the love interest in "Ted 2." Mark Wahlberg is still starring in "Ted 2," which is about a slacker whose best friend is a foul-mouthed, marijuana-smoking teddy bear named Ted. Kunis played Walhberg's long-suffering girlfriend in the first "Ted" movie.
Although there were rumors that MacFarlane and Kunis did not get along while filming "Ted," Deadline reports that the decision to re-cast Seyfried in the role of the love interest in "Ted 2" movie "has nothing to do with anything other than a creative decision that MacFarlane decided to take with the plotting of the sequel. He and Kunis remain close ... and she continues to provide the voice of Meg in MacFarlane’s 'Family Guy.'"
Seyfried has starred in a wide variety of films from major studios, as well as low-budget indie films. She's done musicals ("Mamma Mia!" and "Les Misérables"), romantic comedies ("The Big Wedding" and "Letters to Juliet"), thrillers ("In Time" and "Gone") and and dark dramas ("Lovelace" and "Chloe").
On TV, she is best known for her supporting role as a daughter of a polygamist in "Big Love."
Kunis has not yet commented on Seyfried being cast in "Ted 2," and it is unknown at this point if Kunis will be in the movie. Wahlberg has not commented yet either.
"Ted 2" is being planned for release sometime in 2015.
