Next week choreographer Amanda Loulaki will premiere her newest work FORESTED at Long Island City's Chocolate Factory Theater. Loulaki is a cerebral, process-oriented choreographer who takes great joy in the journey of creating new work - a practice she upholds within her dance company Short Mean Lady, which was founded in 2001.

FORESTED is driven by an underlying physicality and non-linear narrative, toying with time, imagery, space. A series of vignettes in this solo work present the human body as a "container of history," incorporating autobiographical elements. The work marks the second - after UNTITLED which premiered at The Kitchen in 2012 - in what will become a trilogy focusing on how the audience's attention can be directed in and by performance, affecting not only one's experience of the work, but their experience of time. FORESTED was created and will be performed by Loulaki herself, with lighting design by Joe Levasseur and sound design by Tei Blow.
