Raffaele Sollecito took the stand Thursday during the Amanda Knox trial in Italy; he is the ex-boyfriend of Amanda Knox, both of whom are charged in the murder of Meredith Kercher. Amanda Knox and Meredith Kercher were roommates in 2007, and the night that Kercher was killed Knox claims she was at Sollecito’s house.
"I am not a violent person," Sollecito said. "I've not killed Meredith. I was not at the scene of the crime. Every day I hope that the guilty one confesses. I ask you to give me back my life," he said. Sollecito was not questioned by the prosecutor.
In his closing arguments for Amanda Knox, Luciano Ghirga said, “We suffer at the memory of Meredith. But we look at the future of Amanda," and he quoted Amanda when he said, “Meredith was my friend.”
Prosecutors stated that Meredith Kercher was killed when Knox told two men to hold Kercher down and they sexually assaulted and slashed her throat. Knox's boyfriend at the time, Raffaele Sollecito, 26, and a friend Rudy Guede are the two other accused.
The defense provided a great deal of evidence that the crime scene was tampered with, and that the evidence is not reliable. On Wednesday, the prosecutor attempted to reject those allegations with claims that the crime scene was secure, and they defended the work of the Italian police.
The prosecution is asking for a life sentence for Knox and Sollecito if they are found guilty, because Italy does not have a death sentence. If the prosecution concludes its summary today, the jury will deliberate Friday.

The evidence against the murderess is absolutely conclusive.
The verdict was unanimous and the deliberations were about the length of time each of the two defendants should serve.
It is not ethical to portray people like Amanda Knox, Scott Patterson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Mansion, Ted Bundy in a glorifying way as it only encourages copy cat murders.
