On March 11 the internet went crazy over Amanda Bynes recent Twitter pic about her new look. Google had her listed as number nine in the top nine trends for Monday. People magazine started the trend with the catchphrase “Who’s that girl?” Indeed, inquiring mind want to know, what happened to the girl-next-door look Amanda Bynes is known for? Maybe she’s trying to wash herself clean of that squeaky image. The problem is this look isn't so new.
The photograph was tweeted with the caption “Wink ;)” But who exactly is she winking at? While no one seems to be sure; critics agree the look is a little wacky. The long curly hair that once was shiny and healthy looking now looks like a curled up, split ended mess, tucked underneath an orange semi-beanie hat with the logo Trapstar. Each cheek is pierced and her nails are done in the popular stiletto style. Her Twitter feed gives no clues to the changes; only some insight into being apart from someone she loves. Perhaps the one she's winking at.
However, looking back through old tweets and photos; this look is not new at all. One photo dated Feb. 11 shows the star in the same orange hat with the curly locks. The caption simply says “Yo <3” Another posted on Feb. 11 shows Bynes with one eye barely open, with her hair pulled back. Call us crazy, but the hair has a wig vibe about it. It has one simple word captured on it, “Hi.” Two days later she snaps another photo in oversized glasses showing the two cheek piercings and white hair. It’s caption, “Back to blonde!” Amanda’s Instagram gives insight that those piercings were done back in January when she grammed a photo in their honor. It isn't until the March 10 photo with the same look from Feb. 11 where gossip columnist start to take notice.
