Amanda Bynes looks like she’s trying to launch a rapping career

Amanda Bynes’ shocking new look definitely has everyone wondering what’s going on inside that mysterious mind of hers. According to a March 11 report by the New York Daily News, the former Nickelodeon star took to Twitter to rock a new look that consists of long blond curly hair, an orange “trapstar” hat, talon-like fingernails, cheek piercings, and a mask of makeup. In another photo, she rocks a neck-load of gold chains and a captain’s hat.

The “Easy A” actress has seemingly been battling with Lindsay Lohan to see who can be the biggest former teen star train wreck (or the worst celebrity driver), but now it looks like she’s attempting to give a different star the “Single White Female” treatment.

Some Twitter users have pointed out that Amanda Bynes’ new look is somewhat similar to those rocked by R&B singer Rita Ora and rapper Nicki Minaj. Since Amanda has also been posting photos of Barbie on her Instagram, perhaps it’s Nicki who she’s trying to emulate.

Nicki Minaj has an alter ego called Harajuku Barbie, which is her own unique take on the doll who thinks that pink plastic is fantastic. Maybe Amanda Bynes is experimenting with her style because she’s planning on becoming a rapper just like Nicki. Amanda has proved that she can sing in the movie "Hairspray," so maybe she can rap, too. Some of her recent tweets about love do sound like song lyrics, including one that reads, “I don’t care who kissed you first as long as I kiss you last.”

If Amanda is trying to launch a rap career, she certainly won’t be able to score a job working for the boss of her other style twin Rita Ora -- the “All That” actress once called Jay-Z “ugly face.”

Amanda could be trying to pull a Joaquin Phoenix by claiming that she’s retiring from making movies (something she’s already done); making everyone think that she’s crazy by launching a rapping career; then wowing everyone a few years later when she gives an award-worthy performance in a Paul Thomas Anderson movie. She could even work with Joaquin in Anderson’s next crime drama titled “Inherent Vice.”

Sadly, it’s unlikely that Amanda Bynes is doing the same thing that Joaquin Phoenix was doing when he was acting crazy and trying to be a rapper -- he was putting on a show for a documentary. However, at least she’s staying off of the road when she’s playing dress-up and posting wacky photos on Twitter.
