Amanda Bynes got a DUI last year, and she also faced hit-and-run charges. But the 26-year-old Nickelodeon star claimed she was "doing amazing" back in Sep. 2012. "I am retired as an actor," she said. "I am moving to New York to launch my career. I am going to do a fashion line. I am not talking about being arrested for DUI because I don't drink, and I don't drink and drive. It is all false." Now, evidently, things aren't going so well for her in New York. Allegedly, her landlord threatened to evict her because, TMZ claims, the landlord says she disrespects the rules.
Supposedly, the landlord has been getting complaints that marijuana smoke is coming from her apartment "morning, noon and night." Plus, sources claim she's been smoking in the hallways, as well. Reportedly, Bynes is currently moving out and finding a new place to live.
If Amanda is no longer interested in acting, but instead wants to open a fashion line, her alleged pot smoking may not be a problem, at least as far as opening a fashion line. She won't have an image to uphold as an actress, particularly one who came from Nickelodeon. Miley Cyrus, 20, successfully changed her Disney image, despite grumbles from people such as the folks at the Parents Television Council, and is still acting and singing. However, there's no guarantee that a transition can work for every actress.
Even so, if Bynes does have a substance abuse problem, that could carry over into every aspect of her life. "Amanda’s completely gone off the grid. She won’t speak with her manager, her agent, her publicist; she’s not returning anybody’s phone calls," a source told Radar Online back in Sep. 2012. "She’s obviously crying out for help, but isn’t ready to receive it. She seems to be having some serious mental health issues, and she’s always out of it. She really doesn’t seem to be in touch with reality."
