Rihanna kicked off the American Music Awards Sunday night on ABC and Usher picked up the first award of the night for Best Soul/R&B album. Scheduled performers include Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, The Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Pink and Usher. The New Kids on the Block are slated to perform with The Backstreet Boys for the first time.

Cyrus walked the red carpet in a short white dress with a long train behind her. She plans to sing her new single, "Forgiveness and Love," two days before her 18th birthday. Teen pop singer Bieber, who is nominated for several awards, will sing "Pray" with some surprise guests.

Lady Antebellum and Eminem are nominated for the most awards tonight.

The 2010 American Music Awards airs Sunday night live at 7 p.m.CST on Little Rock's KATV Channel 7.
