Am freezing rain and some snow, much colder today

Miami Valley , Whitewater Valley, and the I-71 corridor of Ohio/Indiana:

Colder air has filtered in this morning changing rain over to some freezing rain with some light ice accumulation, some locations may see a brief period of snow that could lead to one inch or less of accumulation. Use caution when driving this morning. A small snowstorm will track SE of the region tonight giving everyone SE of Cincinnati and along the Ohio River a quick wet 3 to 5 inches of snow tonight so use caution if driving that way. Cold air will continue in tomorrow and stay intrenched through Tuesday. Current forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday's storm is for it to track just SE of I-71. This would put the region in an snow,sleet, freezing rain, rain combo changing to snow on the back side. Some locations along and SE of I-71 could see a period of just rain. This would cut down on snow totals significantly. However if this storm track is further SE than higher snow totals could be felt. Stay tuned as there are several more model runs to be analyzed. This storm has the potential to bring significant impacts to the region.

Behind this storm arctic air will make a return with highs in the teens and lows in the single digits.

The following is the seven day forecast for the Dayton metro area and a 50 mile radius around it. Other metro areas like Columbus, Cincinnati, and Portsmouth are not included. For those areas please request a separate forecast. Thanks.

Today 2/2 - Mostly cloudy, freezing rain/some snow before 10am then a chance of scattered snow showers by pm mainly SE of I-71. Winds N 5 to 15 mph. High 32 falling into the upper 20s late. Chance of precipitation 50%. Snowfall around one inch or less.

Tonight 2/2 - Mostly cloudy, scattered snow showers SE of I-71. Winds N 5 to 15 mph. Low 22. Chance of snow 50%. Snowfall an inch or less SE of I-71.

Monday 2/3 - Partly sunny, becoming mostly sunny. Winds N 5 to 10 mph. High 30.

Mon night 2/3 - Increasing clouds late. Winds NE 5 to 10 mph. Low 20.

Tuesday 2/4 - Mostly cloudy, rain/snow mix developing late, heavy at times. Winds NE 5 to 15 mph. High late day of 34. Chance of precipitation 100%.

Tues night 2/4 - Mostly cloudy, rain heavy at times, changing to snow late. Low 34 around midnight then falling into the upper 20s late. Chance of precipitation 100%.

Wednesday 2/5 - Mostly cloudy, scattered snow showers. High falling through the 20s. Chance of snow 70%.

Wed night 2/5 - Mostly cloudy, a chance of scattered snow showers early. Low 9. Chance of snow 30%.

Thursday 2/6 - Partly cloudy. High 17.

Thur night 2/6 - Mostly clear. Low 3.

Friday 2/7 - Mostly sunny. High 23.

Fri night 2/7 - Partly cloudy. Low 14.

Saturday 2/8 - Mostly cloudy. High 28.
