You would think that an experienced comedian like Jay Mohr would recognize the difference between witty and wounding words. However, he publicly fat-shamed Alyssa Milano for her post-baby weight, reported Us Weekly on Jan. 2.
What happened: Alyssa and Jay attended the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards gala in Las Vegas. Jay apparently decided that he was responsible for scrutinizing Alyssa's body as critically and cruelly as possible and then commenting on it.
"She was one of the presenters," he said. "She's very tiny, in height...It seems like she had a baby and said, ‘I don't really give a s--t'...I read it on her gut."
Jay then expanded on his rudeness by adding, "Somebody sat in the director's chair and was not wearing Spanx and I was like, 'Jesus Christ.'"
Alyssa kept it classy when she responded via Twitter, reported the Today show on Jan. 2.
"@jaymohr37 So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife," she wrote.
"You're all lovely. Thank you for your kind words. #Appreciative," she later added in a smooth yet sarcastic salute.
In a previous interview, Alyssa noted to Shape magazine that taking care of her family is her focus rather than fretting about her appearance.
"I definitely don't have all the answers for that, but the most important things to me are my son and my marriage," she said.
"I try to do the best that I can with everything else. It really comes down to after I put my baby to sleep; I have to spend quality time with my husband. It's so important."
As for dieting, she added, ""A weird thing happens after you have a baby... you realize what your body was meant to do."
And, Alyssa declared, "Appearance is not as important as the confidence you feel with being a mom and being comfortable in your own skin."
