Alyson Hannigan harassed with death threats (Video)

"How I Met Your Mother" star Alyson Hannigan was forced to obtain a restraining order against a mentally unstable man named John Hobbs, who has made a number of death threats against the actress. TMZ reported on Wednesday, Feb. 13 that Hannigan filed for the restraining order in the L.A. County Superior Court, after the man continued posting the death threat messages on the the social network sites, Facebook, MySpace, and Alyson's official web page.

Hannigan's court filings state that the 43-year-old resident of Nashua, N.H., was recently released from a mental hospital and that says Hobbs has threatened in online posts to kill the actress and harm her family. He admitted to police in New Hampshire that he wanted to travel to California to meet the actress.

Hannigan says Hobbs is "mentally unstable and was recently discharged from a mental hospital."

A hearing has been set for March 6th when a judge will determine whether to make the restraining order permanent for Alyson Hannigan, her husband and two children ages one and three.

Alyson Hannigan is best known for her roles as Willow Rosenberg in the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" , Lily Aldrin on the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" and Michelle Flaherty in the original "American Pie" film series.

On January 30, 2013, CBS officially renewed "How I Met Your Mother" for a ninth and final season.
