Guitarist Alvin Lee dies at the age of 68

Alvin Lee, a legendary guitarist, has died at the age of 68 on Wednesday. Lee died of complications from a routine surgery. There have been no other details released at this time, according to the Hollywood Reporter on March 6.

Lee’s family released a statement today letting fans know he had passed away.

“With great sadness we have to announce that Alvin unexpectedly passed away early this morning after unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure.”

Lee was a member of the rock group Ten Years After. The British band got international fame after their performance at Woodstock in 1969. The band played a rendition of Lee’s song I’m Going Home for 10 minutes. The song spent four week at No. 1 in the U.S. in 1970.

Lee played with many other bands including Sly & the Family Stone, The Who, Santana and many others.

The death of Alvin Lee has left fans shocked. Lee’s family may be the most shocked of all. Lee was a legend and so many people that knew him were amazed that he was able to play a guitar so fast. Lee will always be a legend to his fans and will truly be missed.
