Alvin Ailey's all African American dance troupe, based out of New York City, performed during the International Evenings of Dance at the Vail International Dance Festival this past summer.
The company's expressive, athletic movements never cease to stun audiences worldwide. Bringing a mix of contemporary and modern dance, AAADT will perform two varying evenings of dance consecutively. Tuesday night's program includes Love Stories by Judith Jamison with Robert Battle & Rennie Harris, Episodes by Ulysses Dove, and Revelations by Alvin Ailey.
Wednesday evening's program features Night Creature by Alvin Ailey, In/Side by Robert Battle, Suite Otis by George Faison and Revelations by Alvin Ailey.
Revelations, perhaps AAADT's most recognizable piece, will conclude both evenings due to its iconic status. Alvin Ailey (1931-1989) choreographed this work based on his memories of Texas. He drew upon inspiration from the blues and gospel. Additional program notes on each piece can be found on the Vilar Center for the Arts website.
Both performances start at 7:30 pm, and tickets run from $75 - $85 based on seating. Tickets may be purchased here or by calling 888.920.ARTS(2787). Don't miss this opportunity to see Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre this week!
