The innovative and inspiring Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, under the artistic direction of native son Robert Battle, returns to Miami this Thursday for only five performances.
The works that will be performed on a rotating schedule, include the following:
Arden Court, which marks the first time the Ailey dance company is performing a work by American modern dance master Paul Taylor.
Minus 16, which challenges the dancers to improvise and invite audience members to join them onstage.
Home, a work by bold hip-hop choreographer Rennie Harris, which is set to a soul-lifting gospel house music score and inspired by stories of people living or affected by HIV.
And two works by Robert Battle, his bravura solo Takademe and his explosive dance for six men entitled The Hunt, which was an audience favorite from last season.
As customary, the finale for each performance is Ailey's own, beloved work, Revelations, a mainstay of the Ailey experience for the past half-century.

The Miami performances take place Feb. 23 -26 and are part of the company's 27 city North American tour.
