The Altuzarra for Target collection includes 50 items ranging in price from $18 to $90 for lingerie, and $30 to $80 dollars for shoes and accessories.
Altuzarra was born in Paris to a Chinese-American mother and French father. Before launching his own label in 2008, he previously worked as a freelance designer for Proenza Schouler and was first assistant to Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci.
His design style has been described as modern, seductive and sexy. According to his website His “women’s ready-to-wear luxury brand is a mixture of French sophistication and American pragmatism and ease.
In a press release about the collection Joseph Altuzarra said: “As a designer, I believe firmly in the transformative power of fashion. It has the ability to not only change how you look, but also how you feel”, he also added: “I’ve admired the elegance that Target brings to fast fashion. By working together on this capsule collection, we hope to instill a sense of power, confidence and beauty in women everywhere”.
He has won many awards including a CFDA/Fashion Fund Prize in 2011 and the Swarovski Award for womenswear design in 2012. He was also named in Forbes’s Magazine 30 under 30 in 2012.
The collection will be available in Target stores in the U.S and Canada on September 14 as well as on Target.com.
