Here is another example of how supply and demand can affect the price of an item. Altoids has discontinued the Tangerine Sours candy. You may know of the "curiously strong" original Altoids peppermint candy and gum. The Tangerine Sours come in a little round silver tin. If you do a Google search for this product, you will find results, but most sites like Amazon and Candy Warehouse show the item as out of stock.
If you are lucky enough to find these at Big Lots or another drug or grocery store, grab them! One tin is selling for around $15 on eBay. Regular retail price is around $2.50. You may see these on clearance marked down to even less. This is a perfect example of the law of supply and demand - as an item becomes more difficult to find and shorter in supply, the price will rise.

Interesting, imagine if you could find a huge supply of those. At $15 a pop you would be making some nice money.
