It was the year dubstep broke, and Gangnam Style unfortunately created a phenomenon that went from an amusing few minutes to laugh with friends to nauseating in a matter of a few weeks. Still, alternative music had a glowing year as Radiohead blew fans away in arenas around the world, Spotify became an increasingly popular streaming tool to discover music, and more artists such as Amanda Palmer turned to websites like Kickstarter for fan-funded musical projects.
Even in a fast-paced music industry searching for the next big pop single, indie music continued to prevail in both an album and live format. Alternative Music Examiner now presents a two-part photo gallery of 2012's best live music photos.
