Lately I have noticed my readership and others here have declined and all the reasons are unclear. I hear feedback like, it’s too much of an annoyance to endure the pop up ads, or it’s too difficult or evasive to comment. I understand these complaints but the reality is venues like this would cease to exist without revenue to pay their payroll and expenses which includes taxes and even Obamacare.
Yes it is easier to follow Main Stream Media but that doesn’t make it better or right because it’s easier. One just has to look at the plight of the Syrians’ world with no media outlet to the world to expose all the senseless killing. All they have in Syria is the government controlled media which hides the realities with relatively trivial news of insignificant social give me’s like a new water purification plant. Our Main Stream Media is not too far removed from government run media. You may ask how is that possible? Well it works like this: Our elected representatives are elected in most part with the money donated to them from the elite big money sources via lobbyist. These favors are returned by said representatives in the form of passing legislation that favors those special interest that made their election into power possible.
Alternative media like this one provides nobodies like myself a venue to expose my thoughts for you to agree or disagree with but at very least think about. Stimulating thought allows us to decide what is right and wrong where as Main Stream Media is based on selling you their dream at the expense of yours. Alternative media and social media have clearly been the catalyst to social reform as illustrated by the Egyptian’s use of social and alternative media.
Our future and the future of the American Dream rely on venues such as this one to promote free thought to counter the effects of the brainwashing special interest controlled media, education, and marketing of goods and services such as Obamacare for example. Apathy, ignorance, and convenience led us down the path we are on as a nation and it’s our extra effort to think freely and often about our actions that affect our daily lives.
Supporting Main Stream Media gives them the ratings to produce huge revenues that are in turn used by lobbyist to consolidate wealth and power used to strip us the people of rights and freedoms. Giving those ratings to alternative media gives us the people the power and venue to insure we retain the American Dream. If nobody watched or read Main Steam Media they would either cater to we the people instead of special interest or die. But not supporting alternative media is not only killing alternative media but is also compromising the American Dream which includes free speech which countries like Syria have forfeited.
