Cindy Carlberg, a resident of Altadena, won Fit 2 Love and Knack Absolute Abs by personal fitness trainer JJ Flizanes at a workshop sponsored by MonteCedro. MonteCedro is a planned Episcopal Communities & Services Continuing Care Retirement Community that is being built in Altadena.
Approximately 50 San Gabriel Valley residents attended two workshops to promote fitness and introduce people to MonteCedro in late January. Carlberg plans on retiring to MonteCedro, according to a news release sent by the company.
Flizanes talked about holiday eating and encouraged attendees to let go of their guilt and enjoy a day of pleasure. She stated, “Dieting is about balance. No matter what age, a person can live a healthy lifestyle by maintaining an 80/20 rule.”
The next event in a series of fitness workshops is “Conductorcise,” which combines music appreciation and fitness, on Feb. 27 and 28, 2012. David Dworkin, who has conducted orchestras around the world, will lead the workshops. Dworkin was the principal clarinetist with the American Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
Peggy Buchanan, Director of Sales and Marketing at MonteCedro, says that these events are an effort to educate the San Gabriel Valley area about alternative life choices that will help them to live a longer, successful life.
